JOB SUMMARY:

The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for the solicitation of annual and leadership gifts. This role will play a primary functions in the identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding a pipeline of major gift donors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Major & Planned Gifts Fundraising (85%)

  • Qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward leadership annual gifts of $1,000 and above through a personal portfolio of approximately 150 individuals 
  • Establish, evaluate and maintain effective relationships with current donors and prospects 
  • Develop donor strategies, along with appropriate materials, to renew and upgrade donor gifts 
  • In collaboration with Director of Individual Giving, provide direction and assistance to build out YWCA Minneapolis's planned giving program

Major & Planned Gifts Administration (15%)

  • Regularly and accurately update donor records in accordance with moves management process and data integrity policies 
  • Work with Database Specialist to ensure accurate coding of pledged and received financial support 
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports to the Director of Individual Giving who reports to the Chief Development Officer. Critical relationships include: Director of Engagement, Director of Institutional Giving, Database Specialist, the Organizational Advancement department, Program Managers and Coordinators, and the Business Office.

Required:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 
  • Five (5) or more years of non-profit fundraising experience. 
  • A strong record of raising annual and major gifts, either as a professional fundraiser or from a combination of professional and volunteer fundraising activities 
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) 
  • Proven success inspiring people and managing positive working relationships with boards, volunteers, and staff to meet organizational goals 
  • Strong belief in YWCA and ability to convey its importance 
  • Must maintain donor confidentiality at all times and have a strong understanding of personal and professional boundaries in an office setting.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge and experience with Raiser’s Edge, or similar donor software 
  • Advocate for community centric fundraising

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Persuasive communications skills in writing, in-person and over the phone 
  • Outstanding interpersonal and listening skills 
  • Proven fundraising experience with a variety of donors 
  • Ability to appropriately manage confidential information

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Position is located at the Downtown YWCA Minneapolis location. 
  • Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time. 
  • Travel to various YWCA Minneapolis sites, community events, and visits with external partners on a regular basis.

Compensation:

The pay range for this position is $54,080 - $70, 000 per annual (depending on qualifications).
