Responsibilities:

  • Serve as key member of highly proficient Business Development team focused on the acquiring and in-licensing innovative products and companies that complement support Horizon’s existing strategic focus 
  • Support the identification, evaluation and execution of transactions and other related Business Development activities that enhance the value of Horizon’s business 
  • Create detailed financial/valuation, competitive and market analyses 
  • Project management of key elements of the transaction process including timelines, diligence requests and integration 
  • Provide support on projects in our Strategy and Portfolio Analysis area, Commercial Development area and broader CSO organization through analysis and preparation of materials for our Executive Committee or Board of Directors. 
  • Mentor and guide analysts and summer interns

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area required; MBA strongly preferred 
  • 3+ years of investment banking, private equity or consulting experience with documented success to include previous small company biotech and/or pharmaceutical and/or healthcare experience 
  • Some degree of experience in aspects of business development, licensing, financing, mergers & acquisitions, legal, etc. preferred 
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to independently build financial models to support business development decisions 
  • Self-starter and shows high levels of initiative and intellectual curiosity 
  • Strong work ethic 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office especially Excel 
  • Professional demeanor 
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
