The Role

As Manager of Global Brand Communications - Lifestyle and Luxury Brands, you’ll be responsible for supporting consumer communications strategies for Hyatt’s lifestyle and luxury brands (including Andaz, Park Hyatt, Alila, Thompson, and more) globally. You’ll support brand marketing functions with communications planning, strategy, and execution, including executive visibility.

You’ll also be responsible for supporting the management of brand PR agencies to create and implement creative communication programs and consumer news bureau initiatives. You will develop recommendations for appropriate communication vehicles and methodologies to drive desired outcomes and effectively reach target audiences.

Reporting to the Director of Global Brand Communications, you will be a key member of the Global Communications team and a trusted partner across various cross-functional teams including Brand, Marketing, social media, Commercial Services, Legal, Finance, etc. for communications needs.

The individual in this position will:

  • Closely collaborate with the Director of Global Brand Communications to spearhead brand communications efforts for Lifestyle and Luxury brands, as well as other projects that would fit the scope for this role and bring a creative lens to all initiatives with a focus on how brands come to life in earned media. Brands include Thompson Hotels, Andaz, Park Hyatt, Hyatt Centric, and more.
  • Create, and edit written materials including press releases, bios, messaging documents, and briefing books; work with partners and leaders on opportunities, media training, and speaking opportunities; post press materials to PR channels – Hyatt Newsroom & Business Wire.
  • Support development and execution of strategies for marketing initiatives and brand campaigns/activations, including earned influencer initiatives.
  • Support management of brand PR agency relationships and provide day-to-day direction and oversight to brand PR agency team to meet measurable results that ladder up to corporate priorities.
  • Serve as liaison between regional and global communication teams, brand teams, and PR agencies on brand communication issues, news, and other communication needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key media; pitch programming, respond to inquiries and stay ahead of relevant industry news – act as key media relations expert on the team.
  • Support management of communications budget.
  • Work with the director of brand communications to create and manage processes for identifying and strategically responding to emerging communication needs and opportunities.
  • Support brand communications efforts by story mining with global communications colleagues, hotel-level marcoms, etc. for story mining purposes, including leading content development and engagement for Hyatt check-in/hyattconnect.
  • Act as liaison with the commercial services finance team to manage consumer communications budget, track actualized budget against estimated budget, process invoices for the brand communications team, and more.
  • Maximize the collaboration opportunities with internal and corporate communications, as well as other teams across CS such as social media, World of Hyatt, Corporate marketing, social, etc. to ensure consistent and adaptable messaging and programming.
  • Support and counsel brand/development colleagues and company leaders, in the review of their communication methods, tone, and messages. Recommend appropriate communication vehicles and methodologies to drive desired behavior and more effectively reach target audiences.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 6-8 years of agency or in-house communications experience, with a focus on lifestyle/luxury consumer brand communications and media relations. Experience in global communications is a plus.
  • Travel/tourism/hospitality experience is a strong plus.
  • Strong media relations experience, media contacts, results-oriented pitching experience, and social media affinity.
  • Ability to draft a wide range of press materials and content (press releases, key messaging, interview briefing books, social content, scripts, articles, etc.)
  • Proactive, creative, strategic thinker and problem-solver with excellent listening, presentation, and communication skills – and ability to translate complex corporate messages into tangible, clearly understood deliverables. 
  • Extensive agency/outside resource management experience.
  • High level of passion for communications and quality work.
  • Strong empathetic orientation and high level of personal commitment/caring; unquestionable integrity.
  • Excellent networking and relationship-building skills and the ability to act with confidence in dealing with various. levels and functions.
  • Experience with budget oversight.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent listening, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to operate in a fast-paced, complex corporate environment.
