The Manager of Foundation and Government Relations is responsible for obtaining grants from foundations, corporate foundations, and government agencies.

Management:

  • Lead the production of new and renewed grant proposals each year. 
  • Conduct research to identify prospective grantors and pursue new funding opportunities that align with CAC programs. 
  • Research prospects and review requests for proposals to make recommendations for submission to CAC leadership. 
  • Participate in informational sessions for private or government application and report key information. 
  • Provide summaries of RFPs and work plans for completion of applications by RFP deadlines. 
  • Build relationships with funders, keeping them abreast of developments at the CAC and their funded program. 
  • Manage the processes of writing, preparing, submitting, and tracking grant proposals, reports and supporting materials. 
  • Maintain grant calendar, managing deadlines and timelines as well as the collection of supporting materials and documentation and accomplishes projects and tasks in the prescribed time frame. 
  • Manage the completion and compilation of public grant attachments, which can include job descriptions, resumes, linkage agreements, letters of support, etc. 
  • Collaborate with staff from the Content, Marketing, Operations, and Finance departments and assign tasks necessary for completion of grant proposals, sponsorships, and reports, and lead them through this process. 
  • Work closely with Content Creation, Marketing, Operations, and Finance departments to ensure that grant deliverables are being met and reported in a timely manner. 
  • Manage web-based accounts for local, state and federal grants such as Grants.gov and the city of Chicago e-procurement system. 
  • Coordinate with Marketing to ensure proper recognition of donors on CAC communications vehicles.

Writing:

  • Act as the primary writer for all proposals, letters of intent, and reports demonstrating exceptional attention to detail. 
  • Develop and embody a voice for CAC ensuring that all proposals and donor reports reflect the values and culture of the organization. 
  • Develop common language for Development colleagues and staff from other departments to use in proposals, collateral materials, and other publications. 
  • Share information with colleagues including written solicitation strategies and keeps colleagues informed as needed concerning program strategies and progress.

External Relations:

  • Represent CAC at external events as appropriate. 
  • Represent CAC in professional associations and at selected conferences. 
  • Conduct follow-up communications with funders to provide additional materials as required or necessary. 
  • Contribute to CAC annual report, CAC@Home e-newsletter, and other promotional materials.

Requirements:

  • Must have excellent analytical skills, exceptional writing skills, and presentation skills. 
  • Must have strong understanding of grant making processes. 
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organization skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks. 
  • Must be a self-starter, project oriented and a problem solver with strong system and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications:

  • 4-7 years direct experience 
  • Bachelor's Degree 
  • Experience in a not-for-profit organization

Salary Description: $60,000 - $80,000
