GEWS World Academy Chicago seeks a full-time Manager of Marketing & Enrollment. The Manager will work closely with the Head of School, the Director of Admissions, and division heads, leading the development and implementation of the school’s brand, vision, strategy, and public relations, that will contribute to revenue growth, retention efforts, and help ensure GWA’s position in the Chicago independent school market.

The successful candidate should understand the opportunities and challenges facing independent schools specifically. This is a unique role that straddles both admissions as well as marketing & communications. The ideal candidate has both demonstrated savvy with K12 marketing as well as is comfortable engaging with current and prospective families.

The Manager will:

  • Develop and implement, as a complement to the overall admissions strategy, a comprehensive strategic communications and marketing plan to promote GEMS World Academy Chicago’s image, mission, profile, and reputation among prospective families, current families, and other constituents; 
  • Develop and manage budgets for communications, marketing, and outreach activities, including reporting on results; 
  • Develop and maintain marketing materials and channels, including web, video, social media presence, brochures, publications, and marketing presentations, coordinating and project managing input from stakeholders when necessary; 
  • Develop and implement a public relations plan that includes planning and coordination of special events, and maintenance of relationships with partner agencies; 
  • Manage inquiries, press relations, crisis communications, and promotion of the School’s achievements; 
  • Develop and manage media events; and 
  • Assist with Admissions in the form of tours, event support, and administrative work, as needed.

The following are also necessary:

  • Evidence of strong writing, editing, interpersonal, and presentation skills. This is a highly creative role!; 
  • Broad understanding of developing and emerging communications technologies and platforms;
  • Ability to define goals and objectives, identify audience segments, develop strategic and targeted messaging and communications plans, and measure effectiveness; 
  • Leadership capacity including an ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and excellent organizational skills; 
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion; 
  • Ability to foster effective relationships with senior leadership, faculty, communications professionals, staff, and students; 
  • Social media, design, and branding experience is highly preferred; 
  • Prior experience in an independent school environment strongly desired.
