JOB SUMMARY:

The Manager of Online Strategy is a hands-on technician responsible for providing, coordinating and managing web-based solutions including web site design, the development of web and mobile applications, e-newsletter management, content management systems, and database structures to meet Prevea Health and Hospital Sisters Health System – Eastern Wisconsin Division (HSHS – EWD) requirements. In addition to managing online strategy, this position will directly supervise a digital media colleague responsible for the development of new web pages and web site maintenance, as well as the placement, management and measurement of digital marketing campaigns.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervisor digital media staff to offer strategic direction; prioritize and track projects; and complete performance reviews.
  • Manage the design, development and ongoing improvement of all Prevea and HSHS-EWD web properties and mobile applications.
  • Provide technical guidance to end users for updating website content.
  • Design, plan and implement web-based applications that compliment the Prevea/EWD brand standards, including visual appearance, usability, functionality, and overall navigation within the larger CMS (content management system) platform.
  • Develop custom pages/solutions/calendars as appropriate using a CMS platform.
  • Develop technical documentation for project requirements, system configurations, specifications, etc.
  • Troubleshoot issues with current sites and applications; diagnose and recommend or fix problems. Serve as a "translator" between Prevea, outside developers and advertising agency.
  • Apply new technology, video blogs, media, interactive research and emerging standards related to web and digital media.
  • Set-up RSS feeds to Prevea websites and blogs to push info out.
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies.
  • Monitor web traffic reports to determine usage and potential areas for improvement.
  • Determine the best web site hosting options creating the greatest cost efficiencies.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Answer the shared marketing telephone lineSort and distribute departmental mail
  • Accept packages/greet department guests
  • Other duties as assigned 

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is primarily performed in a sedentary office environment, which is well lit and ventilated.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Mostly sedentary activities. Work may require sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching.Occasionally lifting files, paper or video equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.

Performs highly complex and varied tasks requiring independent knowledge applied in a variety of situations. Work may be stressful at times due to tight deadlines. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and to work in an environment which may be very stressful, demanding and fast-paced.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field and 5-10 years experience in information technology or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience managing other staff members. A portion of the above experience must be internet/intranet administration, including web and mobile application deployment and support.
  • Experience with web site design, HTML, XML and JavaScript. 
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS)
  • Experience with compatibility issues between different browsers and computing platforms.

  • The ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction is essential.
  • Strong and collegial working relationship skills, possessing a high level of diplomacy and effectiveness under pressure situations, are also required.
