Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of University Communication with a dotted line to the Chief of Presidential Affairs in the Office of the President, manages the coordination of presidential communications undertaken by various Office of University Relations (OUR) colleagues to ensure timely, high-quality work product and no gaps in service, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality. Coordinates and develops preparation and communication materials for the president and coordinates presidential staffing (both executive staffing and coordination with event lead). Also staffs the president at some events, in collaboration with a broader team of experts within the President’s Office and the Office of University Relations. Drafts and edits presidential staffing overviews, as well as remarks and digital communications for the president for campus and community events numbering about 240 events per year. Liaises closely with university deans and vice presidents and their staff members from the Office of University Relations, University Advancement, Mission and Ministry, Research and Innovation, and other departments to tie presidential communications into strategic initiatives and overarching key messaging.

  1. Manage the coordination of presidential communications undertaken by various OUR colleagues to ensure timely, high-quality work product and no gaps in service.
  2. Create, edit, and develop presidential staffing overviews, the president’s remarks and multimedia PowerPoint presentations for campus and community events numbering about 240 events per year. Research, develop, and/or edit strategic written presidential communications in coordination with OUR colleagues.
  3. Coordinate presidential staffing (both executive staffing and coordination with event lead) and staff the president at some events, in collaboration with a broader team of experts within the President’s Office and the Office of University Relations
  4. Be available to the president as needed, including some nights and weekends. Relay information and feedback from the president to OUR and university colleagues in a timely manner to ensure team responsiveness.
  5. Attend weekly meetings with OUR colleagues on presidential communications team to strategize around communications. Attend weekly meetings with the president to secure feedback, approval and direction on presidential communication initiatives. Serve as a member of OUR university communications team, attending team meetings and contributing to broader university-wide initiatives that involve the president.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of related experience required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, multi-tasking abilities, and the ability to work with diverse constituencies.
  • Ability to solve difficult, non-routine, complex problems drawing on experience, and knowledge.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, professional attitude, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Understanding of the higher education environment.
  • Responsive and timely in responding to requests.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Basic knowledge of MarqIt, Zoom, understanding of video requirements, all A/V equipment in Zilber Hall.
  • Appreciation for the mission of a Catholic, Jesuit university and more broadly of Jesuit postsecondary education.
  • Ability to work in-person on campus.
