The Manager of Strategic Communications position is responsible for leading the development of strategic communications at UnityPoint Health – Meriter and elevating its internal and community profile. Efforts include serving as regional media relations expert, Public Information Officer and organization spokesperson, while raising awareness of community relations and marketing initiatives, in conjunction with the regional team.

This position is also responsible for leading all UnityPoint Health – Meriter internal, crisis and executive communications efforts, as well as heavily supporting internal brand and employee engagement initiatives. The manager oversees regional content development/distribution and works with affiliate organizations (UnityPoint Health and UW Health) to coordinate, collaborate and bring forward best practice. This position is based at home, with on-site meetings/events/projects as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, marketing, communications or a related field
• 6 years’ experience in marketing and/or communications
• Commitment to focus on key organizational priorities and strategies, as well as articulate with others
• Strong crisis management and strategic planning skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for a variety of internal and external audiences; strong presentation skills
• Expertise in public relations/media relations strategy
• Strong people management skills, fostering a positive team environment focused on respect, growth and balance
• Excellent organizational and project management skills, and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks
