The Manager of Paid Media will collaborate with an integrated strategic communications team to develop campaigns that share BCBSA’s national messaging and support business initiatives. The Manager of Paid Media will devise new and innovative initiatives and approaches to leveraging paid media across multiple channels and platforms, lead day to day strategic management of a variety of projects and provide strategic direction for paid optimizations. He/S will manage the paid strategy of the integrated communications campaign(s) providing leadership, ongoing feedback, effective motivation and performance evaluation while working closely with the media agency of record.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for paid strategy and management of channel activities across multiple platforms.
  • Brings strategic thought leadership ensuring marketing, communication and business priorities are being advanced. 
  • Partners and collaborates with Director of Integrated External Communications and managers working to share BCBSA’s national message and support business initiatives across earned, social and owned media channels to ensure holistic channel strategies and activations are being employed. 
  • Works closely web designers to ensure synergies between website features/functionality and partners with members of the storytelling team and creative department to implement campaigns across the web site and social channels. 
  • Collaborates with analytics team to identify and analyze key activation metrics, and to provide insights for ongoing optimization.

General Responsibilities:

  • Liaises with paid media agency of record to identify external partners and advise on paid media strategy. 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert within BCBSA and for BCBS companies. 
  • Advise on paid media budget and allocations throughout the year.

Required Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field 
  • 6+ years’ experience of paid media capabilities 
  • Agency experience ideal (Media Agency, Advertising Agency or related Marketing Communications Agency) 
  • Experience working with external clients, vendors, or cross-functional teams ideally in both B2B and B2C settings 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Basic Qualifications:

  • Results-driven work ethic 
  • A close eye for detail with the ability to see how details fit into the overall picture 
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines 
  • Knowledge of media planning/buying tools and digital analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Sprinklr or other social media monitoring (Talkwalker, Crimson Hexagon, Netbase, etc.) 
  • An effective project manager, with the ability to create timelines and work with partners to ensure deliverables are met
