The Market Research Manager will identify opportunities and risks for Central’s Specialty Pet division by connecting consumer behavioral data with marketplace realities. With a unique purview of Category/Competitor strategies, the Market Research Manager will identify pockets of opportunities. This role provides a unique opportunity to drive Marketing Strategies on Core Growth, Innovation, Consumer Spend, In-Store Merchandising by developing and fielding consumer and shopper research combined with analyzing syndicated consumer purchase behavior information.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS:

  • Proactively provide strategic guidance on growth opportunities for Specialty brands/consumers during critical periods: Strategic and Operating Plan development, Sales Reviews, Innovation Reviews, Category Growth stories 
  • Diagnose and communicate performance and consumer narratives to Pet Segment to enable common understanding and drive action. 
  • Lead Application of Behavioral Analytics: Segmentations, Consumer Panel, Assortment Studies 
  • Consult and educate Specialty Pet stakeholders, including sales on relevant growth metrics and data sources, including appropriate use case, application, and interpretation 
  • Consult with Central Sales and Analysts on new information and data opportunities 
  • Direct Central Specialty Pet Database Product view integrity (database structure & maintenance) 
  • Designs or helps vendor design marketing research surveys and other research projects as needed 
  • If leading in-house projects, conducts the design, fielding, data processing, and analysis for the study. 
  • Reviews data and writes analytical report or consults with outside vendor on report of study findings. 
  • Develops or consults with outside vendor on developing conclusions and recommendations regarding marketing and product development issues. 
  • Makes oral presentations of results to marketing managers and management.

IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; Master's degree desired. 
  • 5 years progressive experience, with 3 years or more related experience conducting consumer research and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • 3 or more years’ experience with consumer-packaged goods industry. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of marketing research methods and techniques. Digital and mobile research experience a plus. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. 
  • Proficiency with survey design software a plus (Sawtooth and/or Qualtrics proficiency a plus). 
  • Proficiency with SPSS, Q, Marketsight, or other statistical software a plus 
  • Moderator certification (RIVA) a plus. 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple short- and long-term projects. 
  • A high level of computer literacy. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate research findings clearly and effectively to diverse audiences. 
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Office is in Franklin, WI which is 10-minute drive to Milwaukee and 45 minutes from the Northern Chicago Suburbs. 
  • Requires the ability to travel approximately 10%-15% of the time.
