This is an exciting and rare opportunity to join Delta Dental of Wisconsin the premier dental insurance provider in all of Wisconsin. This position is responsible for supporting and monitoring the growth of key dental and/or vision benefit plan product segments and special programs. The Market Strategy & Product Specialist will collect internal data, competitive intelligence and market research, and then evaluate the data against stakeholder needs/expectations, market conditions, and current market positioning. This position will apply this knowledge to provide updates to management, along with recommended strategies and direction to improve business results by more closely aligning the product segments with market needs and stakeholder expectations. The Market Strategy & Product Specialist will be closely involved in implementing proposed strategies.

We have the flexibility to have this position located at any of our three Wisconsin offices: Stevens Point, Milwaukee, Madison or we will consider a remote employee.

You will have the opportunity to grow and define the duties of this position but we expect the Market Strategy & Product Specialist to:

  • Complete ongoing high-level reports of various product segments or special programs to Sales or management teams 
  • Utilize market knowledge to analyze and identify opportunities for business growth working closely to identify product strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities. Identify trends that may impact sales and retention, as well as alert key personnel and provide strategies to reduce/eliminate product “gaps”
  • Participate on the product strategy committee and act as a subject matter expert for the evaluation of market opportunities and strategic initiatives for key segments and special programs using knowledge of market conditions and product positioning to help assess sales and marketing opportunities and prioritize their value
  • Support the ongoing operations and development of key product segments and special programs. Act as a liaison with other departments to answer questions or coordinate key projects 
  • Act as a point of contact for key business relationships that support key segments and programs (i.e. EyeMed) 
  • Utilize market knowledge to analyze, recommend, and help implement tactical strategies (creative strategies, sales contests, etc.) to improve segment performance
  • Educate/train sales and account managements teams and key throughout the organization to improve the success of rollout and tactical strategies 
  • Contribute to sales and marketing creative strategies by helping develop more effective means of communicating key benefits (such as the value of specific products and how they compare to competitors) 
  • Continuously support competitive intelligence and its value to the organization. Collect competitive intelligence and provide competitive comparison reports to Sales and Management teams. Provide Sales and Marketing team direction to support selling against key competitors 
  • Conduct/assist with DDWI sales and marketing research efforts, including conducting meetings with agents, in-house development of surveys/reports, coordinating reports developed through external vendors, review of internal data, and identifying and reviewing purchased reports 
In addition to the qualifications we have listed below some of our preferred experience could include:

Education/Experience/Personal Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field and 3-5 years progressive experience in the insurance industry or other “business to business” service/financial field. Prior experience in product management/development and reporting strongly desired
  • Proficiency with MS Office Applications; advanced knowledge of Excel preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and decision-making and problem solving abilities to evaluate market research data and provide recommendations to management
  • Efficient written and oral communication skills to prepare and develop reports
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment
