The Historic Third Ward Association (HTWA) acts as a catalyst to guide the District as an innovative, livable and exciting mixed-use neighborhood while preserving its historic and creative character. The HTWA is a 501c3 organization and plays a leadership role in shaping, guiding, and influencing future development and community building within the neighborhood. We offer programs and events to enhance the Historic Third Ward as Milwaukee’s premier destination for living, commerce, culture, and cuisine. The HTWA works alongside BID #2 to grow and manage this historic neighborhood in Downtown Milwaukee.

The Marketing and Communications Director for the Historic Third Ward Association, Inc. directs all internal and external marketing, communications, website,social media, events, public relations, and advertising. In addition, this high-profile position supervises the Community Engagement Coordinator while collaborating with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to execute the 2022-2025 Strategic Plan and other initiatives. 

Key Responsibilities are:

Marketing and Communications

  • Work with Board and oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive communication and marketing strategies for the organization supporting the updated Strategic Plan. 
  • Set up and deploy internal and external communications campaigns, including promoting the HTWA membership program. 
  • Directly execute and oversee content development for website updates, articles, newsletters, emails, presentations, videos, blog posts, and social media.

Public and Member Events

  • Responsible for all aspects of event production including planning, budgeting, coordination, and on-site management. 
  • Plan and coordinate member monthly networking sessions and member events. 

Public Relations and Advertising

  • Monitor media relations with print, online, radio, and television outlets in the market. 
  • Promote the Third Ward via press releases. 
  • Manage all print, online, radio, and TV advertising to raise awareness of the HTWA and its public events.
  • External and internal marketing and communications, event production and management, writing, editing, and media relations experience serving varied audiences and content channels.
  • Strong knowledge of social media and its intersection with traditional media and consumer perceptions.
  • Experience in developing and managing budgets 
  • Leadership skills in hiring, training, developing, supervising, and evaluating team members.
  • Five or more years of related marketing, communications, or event experience and training.
  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable academic training in general business, marketing, or closely related discipline is preferred

This position offers a competitive salary range of $60,000 to $70,000 and benefits including health insurance, SIMPLE IRA, life, vision, and dental.
