As the multi-specialty group practice for the faculty of the University of Minnesota Medical School, University of Minnesota Physicians has more than 950 physicians and 1,600 health professionals, providing clinical care in over 100 specialty and sub-specialty areas. Our mission is three-fold: delivering exceptional patient care, advancing medicine through research, and training the next generation of health professionals.

The Marketing and Communications Manager will collaborate with M Physicians and Medical School leaders to implement digital marketing and communications strategies and tactics that advance our brand and reputation. Working collaboratively with teammates and business partners, this role will plan and manage digital marketing and communications strategies using creative thinking, expert data analysis, and a knowledge of the best practices on traditional and digital media. Includes responsibility for all digital platforms for M Physicians and Medical School including web, intranet, social media and email.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with the VP and Director of Marketing & Communications to develop digital strategy to support and compliment internal communications, public relations and marketing strategy.
  • Oversee and responsible for all web, SEO/SEM, intranet, data base marketing, email and social media and display advertising. 
  • Work with the Web Manager to ensure design of websites and intranet meets strategic goals; oversee and support Drupal implementations as needed. 
  • Develop and maintain appropriate maintenance guidelines and processes for website and intranet; track and report results. 
  • Collaborate with communications team to develop social media strategies; support implementation and measurement. 
  • Serve as relationship manager for business partners who have website and intranet content and project requests; meet with business partners to determine objectives, develop solutions, and timelines and implement project plans. 
  • Work with Web Manager to implement plans. 
  • Write and edit web and intranet content as needed; conduct brand reviews. 
  • Support VP in the development and implementation of clinical marketing campaigns.
  • Support digital marketing efforts across all channels to meet budget and business goals.
  • Help to manage budgets, milestones, and deadlines for projects, as needed. 
  • Measure and report on clinical marketing initiatives against goals per project (ROI and KPIs).

Minimum qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Communication, Journalism, Marketing or related field. 
  • Minimum 5 years of professional Marketing & Communications experience; 2-3 years in digital marketing communications. 
  • Fluency in using Microsoft Office Suite; experience with online publishing tools, email marketing platforms, social media. 
  • Writing and editorial skills. 
  • Strong organizational, collaboration and strong relationship building skills.
