Purpose of Position:

This creative, detail-oriented, self-managed, and organized leader will be a member of the Advancement Team. This mission-aligned individual will work in partnership with every department of the Twin Cities organization as well as the National Marketing and Communications team to advance marketing and communications goals, strategies, and processes. Currently this position is hybrid with a minimum 1-2 days in the St. Paul office.

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing and Communications (70%)

  • Conduct annual planning and implementation with internal clients to meet department and organizational goals. This includes supporting the development team and corporate partnerships team in acquiring, cultivating, and stewarding external partners.
  • In partnership with Managers and Directors, create an organization wide annual communications plan.
  • Ensure execution at the local level and make recommendations on national branding framework.
  • Serve as local representative to national marketing and communications team.
  • Analyze and recommend local marketing strategies.
  • Conceptualize, manage, and create aspects of written content creation, such as blog posts, social media content, letters, promotional collateral, flyers, reports, and email copy for local marketing campaigns, including events, that adhere to the Genesys Works brand and key priorities, for multiple and varied audiences and stakeholders.
  • Work with Senior Manager of Advancement and Director of Advancement to establish clear criteria and metrics for a successful marketing and communications operation.
  • Create and manage repositories and resources for internal and external use.
  • Innovate, develop, and design a robust social media calendar and campaigns.
  • Partnering with Director of Advancement, develop and manage local public relations strategy.
  • Track and report digital analytics for social, email, and website to inform and provide recommendations or redirection strategies based upon results.
  • Document processes and systems to establish consistency and standardization across the organization.
  • Help maintain data integrity in Pardot and Salesforce.
  • Train colleagues in Canva and Pardot.
  • Project manage the Annual Impact Report.

Event Planning and Fundraising (15%)

  • In partnership with Development team, plan and execute the organization’s programmatic and fundraising events.
  • In partnership with Development Manager and Director, create a marketing and materials plan to meet fundraising, attendance, and impact goals.

Volunteer Management (15%)

  • Manage the internal tracking of volunteers across all departments.
  • Proactively ensure that the volunteer website is updated with upcoming opportunities.
  • Support departments in recruiting and communicating with volunteers.
  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or closely related experience, and at least five (5) years of professional experience related to this position; or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least nine years. Nonprofit experience is a plus.
  • Strong project self-management competencies, including organizational and problem-solving skills, good time management, and attention to detail. 
  • Proficiency in systems and platforms. Genesys Works currently uses Canva, Salesforce, Pardot, WordPress, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Experience planning and implementing events. 
  • Experience with social media and Google Analytics. Ideally experienced with growing an organization’s ability to tap into analytics. 
  • Ability to work with and influence many different stakeholders, across the organization and at our national organization. 
  • Driver's license is strongly encouraged with the ability to travel throughout the Twin Cities metro area, including locations inaccessible by public transit. 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.

Starting annual salary for this position is $63,450. As an organization we value pay equity transparency for candidates and current Genesys Works staff. We offer market-based salaries that are based on local data. Comprehensive benefits package includes health coverage, paid time off, and (10) company holidays; a 403(b) retirement plan with company match; validated parking near the Genesys Works office in downtown St. Paul, and a communication allowance.
