The Marketing & Communications Manager, under the direction of the Vice President, Public Relations & Marketing, is responsible for designing and creating materials and content that promote the overall mission of Thresholds. This includes digital, print, video, and social media content that support individual programs, fundraising efforts, and agency-wide public relations efforts. The Marketing and Communications Manager creates marketing and communications strategies and tracks the impact and success of campaigns.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans and executes semi‐annual direct marketing campaigns, coordinating appeal across multiple marketing platforms, including direct mail, email, social media, and web. Plans and executes ad-hoc solicitations and mini-campaigns. 
  • Manages inventory and procurement of all agency‐wide collateral and promotional materials, including design, ordering, vendor relations, and distribution. 
  • Oversees video projects, including project management, developing creative direction, hiring and coordinating external video production as needed, finding participants in collaboration with clinical staff, and completing interviews. 
  • Assists with all agency social media accounts, including daily posts, engagement, and activity. Supports social media strategy and content development. Creates engaging content and ensures adherence to overall strategy and branding. Analyzes data to drive future strategy. 
  • Creates content for external agency advertising for print, social media, and digital. Sources opportunities and designs effective ad campaigns to support agency goals. 
  • Assists with program‐specific marketing and communications, including collateral, internal brand consistency, and communication planning. Works with clinical programs to develop and execute marketing strategies to support new business development and referral growth. 
  • Updates and maintains agency website. Responds to agency requests for website changes and works with the information services team to troubleshoot website issues. 
  • Assists with content creation across digital platforms, including social media, web, email, and print. Collaborates with internal staff to serve as a staff reporter, developing story ideas and attending and photographing agency events. 
  • Assists donors and board members with individual digital fundraising campaigns and materials. 
  • Assists with public relations and marketing initiatives, including writing media pitches, advocacy alerts, and press releases. Tracks media mentions in print and digital. 
  • Develops and maintains templates for collateral, presentations, and other materials for internal use. 
  • Collaborates with VP of Marketing and Public relations on creation and implementation of a comprehensive year-long marketing and social media calendar. 
  • Maintains a high level of knowledge on current nonprofit marketing and social media best practices, trends, and new technology, implementing and educating staff, senior management, and board as needed. 
  • Supports systems for agency-wide participation and support for marketing initiatives, including story gathering, photobank, and social media content. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with program staff through regular program communication check-ins, including routine communication between marketing and clinical teams. 
  • Actively participates in departmental and organizational initiatives. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in nonprofit communications and marketing or related field. 
  • Ability to work assertively and independently, multi-task, and meet project deadlines. 
  • Strong customer service and follow-up skills. 
  • Ability to build effective relationships throughout all levels of the organization using demonstrated strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Ability to work proficiently with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva. 
  • Exhibits flexibility and is resourceful in an environment with deadlines, changing needs, and priorities.
