The Marketing & Communications Manager will oversee the development and implementation of communications strategies that advance the Chamber’s reputation as the state’s leading LGBTQ business organization. This position leads the Chamber’s efforts to steward its reputation and communicate effectively with its members, the broader business community, public officials, and the public.

The Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for managing the Chamber’s social media sites, marketing the Chamber’s activities, events and programs, promoting members through social media and the Chamber’s website, and managing outsourced marketing activities (such as graphic design, SEO and website contractors and more). This position creates content, as well as distributes and manages the Chamber’s e-newsletters, e-blasts, and the website.

This position reports to the Chief of Staff and works collaboratively with the Membership & Events Manager and Corporate Partnership Manager. This is a salaried position. While this position is full-time, 40 hours a week, this is not just a 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. job. Some early mornings and evenings are required. This position can be based in Milwaukee, Madison, Appleton or Green Bay, with frequent in-state travel expected. The individual selected must have reliable transportation and be able to travel around the state to attend events and meetings.

Major Duties & Tasks:

  • Create and execute the overall marketing and communications plans that promotes the Chamber’s objectives, programs, and events 
  • Set current and long-term goals, measure objectives, and report out on communications metrics 
  • Develop and implement comprehensive social media strategy for platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter, among others 
  • Creatively design and send email blasts with accuracy to the membership highlighting upcoming Chamber programs, events and activities including but not limited to Monday 411 Weekly E-News Updates, reminders on important upcoming programs and events, and special E-Mail program promotion where appropriate 
  • Coordinate creation of new and innovative communication and marketing efforts, including potentially starting a Chamber Podcast or other initiatives 
  • Manage the production of the Annual Report 
  • Maintain files of all Chamber printed articles appearing in media 
  • Manage the media trade relationships to maximize all agreed upon opportunities 
  • Build relationships with reporters in Wisconsin and nationally to help tell the story of the Chamber 
  • Provide support for Chamber events and ensure photographic and video documentation for further use in Chamber related publications and social
  • Support the President & CEO in effectively communicating about the mission and objectives of the Chamber 
  • When needed, serve as an effective spokesperson to members, the media, and the broader community about the Chamber, its programs, and the needs of the business community

Requirements:

  • Must possess a spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm

  • Must be committed to diversity, equity and inclusion in the community and the workplace 
  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing comprehensive strategic marketing and communications, as well as extraordinary attention to detail
  • High degree of proficiency with platforms such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, CMS platforms, MailChimp, plus social platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn 
  • Excellent presentation skills, both verbal and written
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience providing content writing for a variety of sources including web and social media copy, digital ads and blogs
  • Experience editing written material and highlighting what's important 

Working Conditions:

This position can be based at the Chamber’s Milwaukee headquarters or hybrid (remote and frequent in-person in Milwaukee) from Madison, Appleton, or Green Bay. The Marketing & Communications Manager will be expected to travel around the state to visit members and for events and meetings on a regular basis. Reimbursement is provided for travel.

This is a salaried position. Salary is $55,000 to $60,000 a year, plus benefits including unlimited PTO, 401(k) with employer match, monthly contribution to Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement, and more.

Please note, this is a grant funded, fixed term position. The position is set to run through December 31, 2024.
