POSITION SUMMARY:

The Marketing & Communications Manager conceptualizes and implements comprehensive communications and education plans that align with Women’s Advocates’ strategic plan. This position is responsible for maintaining the vision and scope of Women’s Advocates’ communications and education programs, managing relevant projects, and contributing to Women’s Advocates role as a leader in domestic violence education for social service and advocacy organizations, victim-survivors of domestic violence, and other community partners within Minnesota and beyond. Manager participates in planning and decision-making affecting the entire organization and works in close partnership with the organization’s directors, managers, and supervisors on the organization’s strategic goals, including operationalizing the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion across our work. 

This is a hybrid position with the requirement to be in-person, on-site a minimum of two days per week. The salary range for this position is $62,000 - $68,000.

The Marketing & Communications Manager works with the Director of Development & Communications to develop and implement a comprehensive multi-media marketing strategy that effectively communicates to donors, foundations, staff, and the community about current programming, fundraising needs, and domestic violence prevention. This position is responsible for the implementation, design, and distribution of successful branded communications and social media across multiple platforms, print, website, mailings, and regular newsletters. This position is also responsible for managing and leading our Education team to share our mission and raise awareness about domestic violence in Minnesota and beyond with our community and victim-survivors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (60% Communications Management & 40% Education Management).

Both:

  • Support planning and execute Women’s Advocates events (including educational workshops, public awareness events, community collaborations, fundraisers, etc.) by supporting logistics such as timelines, partner coordination, promotional efforts, and post-event evaluation
  • Design and implement a comprehensive multimedia communications strategy in collaboration with Director of Development & Communications, including development of copy, image, and video content to promote Women’s Advocates across digital and print communications – including regular newsletter content, Annual Report, mailers, social media, etc.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with social service and advocacy organizations, victim-survivors, and community partners—especially those representing marginalized communities—while serving alongside Women’s Advocates leadership as a key representative and liaison to associations and groups working to increase awareness of domestic violence locally and beyond.
  • Manage and maintain strategic online presence by collaborating across teams to provide survivor-centered educational content and resources, as well as donor-facing content that highlights impact and opportunities for support.
  • Manage, analyze, and report performance across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Constant Contact, and monitor social media trends and best practices to ensure content remains fresh, culturally responsive, accessible, and relevant to our diverse audiences.
  • Research, develop, and maintain an active list of traditional media contacts and press outlets, while promoting Women’s Advocates as a leader in the anti-violence movement through national and international programming, media appearances, and community collaborations.
  • Provides direct supervision and on-boarding training to Community Educator.
  • Co-facilitate and manage our Online Survivor Support Group, including leading outreach efforts to reach victim-survivors in MN and beyond and collaborating with advocates on staff, participant feedback, and Survivor Advisory Council to maintain and refresh the curriculum
  • Develop, implement, and continually update innovative educational curriculum that address the unique needs of victim-survivors from diverse and/or underserved populations.
  • Stay informed on current events that impact domestic violence advocacy or the communities we serve, adjust content strategy accordingly to foster awareness and support.
  • Ensure all outward facing materials maintain a consistent, branded organizational identity for outward and internal materials, including creating templates and assisting with design for all staff when needed.
  • Other duties as needed to support Development, Education, Outreach, and Communications teams.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • 3 years of experience in nonprofits, communications, marketing, art, design, or community education directly related to this field.
  • Deep understanding of domestic violence and its impact on victim-survivors.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication, critical thinking, organizational, writing, and technology skills.
  • Experience working in a community-based, diverse organization.
  • Ability to adjust quickly to changing needs and priorities while effectively managing timelines and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience and effectiveness with public speaking and group facilitation.
  • Demonstrated experience with multiple social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • High proficiency in Canva Pro, Constant Contact, Meta Business Suite, and experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro), website design and editing, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of domestic violence, women/gender studies, and related current events useful.
  • Ability to work effectively across differences.
  • Demonstrated experience with and/or commitment to intercultural development and anti-racism work in the workplace.
  • Commitment to actively contributing to the organization being a safe space for members of the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Physically ambulatory and able to negotiate multiple stairways.
  • If driving for WA, a valid driver’s license is required.
