Position Summary:

The Marketing & Communications Specialist supports marketing efforts by executing tactics to support the annual strategic plan. This role maintains insights, digital ads, surveys, social media insights and dashboards to gather data to inform marketing strategies across the organization. Position serves as a content-creator and implements key communication strategies across email marketing, social media, populates blog and multiple internal and external channels. Provides support for digital marketing campaigns, retail software systems and signage fulfillment, employee communications, media, community partnerships and events as needed.

A day in the life:

In a typical day, the Marketing & Communications Specialist can expect to...

  • Marketing & Communications Strategy Support: Manages data, communications tactics and implements projects from annual marketing strategic plan goals.
  • Marketing & Communications Tactics: Contributes to execution of marketing/communications plans for several areas of GESMN, including social media, email marketing and other channels.
  • Insights & Innovation: Supports strategies and content that align with technology changes and best practices.

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of digital and printed collateral – including website, SMS messaging, search, printed collateral, signage, etc. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and projects while meeting deadlines. 
  • Proven writing/content excellence in a variety of formats, including organizational communications, marketing collateral, ads and other channels as needed. 
  • Adept at building and maintaining relationships, interacting with a diversity of perspectives. 
  • Ability to link marketing and communications efforts to metrics. 
  • Excellent computer and project management skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Power Point; 
  • Experience with marketing project management software or Excel a plus. 
  • Experience marketing using social media tools like You Tube, Facebook, Twitter, blogs, and Google + (open source website CMS experience a plus).

Prior Experience & Education:

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience required. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
