General Summary:

The Marketing and Digital Communications Manager supports the efforts of the Director of Marketing and Communications and other members of the Marketing and Communications Department to develop and implement strategies to promote University School of Milwaukee to various constituency groups. Serves as a resource for administration, faculty, staff, parents, and others throughout the USM community by assisting in the in the planning and coordination of advertising and direct mail campaigns and day-to-day management of the School’s websites and social media accounts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the coordination of all marketing and advertising efforts, including working with advertising reps, and creation of annual marketing/communications plan document;
  • Coordinates marketing collateral materials and direct mail campaigns, working with the Design and Creative Services Manager, the Communications and Public Relations Manager, and other outside vendors as needed;
  • Continually evaluates and updates all public websites and microsite content, navigation, and page structure strategy, and develops new content as needed, in coordination with relevant content experts;
  • Develops, manages, and reports the analytics for the public website;
  • Provides strategic management of SEO efforts in support of the public website, including coordination of online advertising campaign and search advertising efforts;
  • Creates and continually refines my USM intranet content;
  • Coordinates School and department calendar information and corresponding details;
  • Coordinates with the Database Manager and outside vendors as needed for direct mail and email list management, as well as analysis of campaign reach and effectiveness
  • Creates parent and faculty/staff newsletters in coordination with the Communications and Public Relations Manager and division coordinators;
  • Serves as a liaison with the School’s web partners (Blackbaud, CareFlow/Magnus, Diamond Mind, Smart Tuition, etc.) and implements best practice approaches in these areas;
  • Provides support for special projects (presentations, surveys, etc.), as needed
  • Serves as a liaison with a specific School division, including regular attendance at division meetings for information gathering and sharing purposes;
  • Provides strategic support for other departmental and School-wide projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge in key areas of marketing, including best practices in website content and layout, social media, and search engine optimization; 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and maintain positive professional relationships; 
  • Excellent writing and communication skills; 
  • Detail-oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills; capable of using tact and diplomacy in dealing with others; 
  • Excellent organizational and data management skills with a strong degree of self-direction and motivation; 
  • Ability to be flexible and handle multiple projects; 
  • High level of maturity, confidentiality, and assertiveness; 
  • Creative thinker with the ability to generate new ideas, trouble-shoot issues and problem-solve; 
  • Capable of competently operating technology; 
  • Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required;

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
  • 2-4 years related experience, documented by a strong marketing/communications portfolio including websites and social media accounts managed, website and social media content calendaring, website analytics evaluation, and other project management that would be shared during the interview process
  • Experience in an education setting or other non-profit environment preferred, but not required
