East Town Association (“ETA”) is seeking multiple part-time interns to work hands-on at our events this season. The position runs June 1 – October 15, 2022 with a possible extension through 12/31/2022. Primary work hours vary throughout the season, but mainly consist of 10-15 hours per week with more hours offered between June 1 and July 17. Required dates and times for the events are stated below. Additional days and hours in between events may be available to assist with marketing and other administrative needs, which will consist of both in-office and remote work. Required dates & times include:

  • Cathedral Square Market (Saturdays): June 18 – October 15 from 7:30am-1:00pm (Schedule rotates, min of two interns, so not every Saturday pending coverage). 
  • Jazz in the Park (Thursdays): July 21 – September 29 from 2pm-10pm (Required unless it can be covered by another intern, min three interns needed each evening). 
  • Bastille Days (Various): July 11-17 (Mandatory. All interns must be available during these dates and will rotate morning and evening hours throughout the event working as many hours as needed).

General Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the promotion and management of each event (see below), including event set-up & breakdown and meeting sponsor needs. 
  • Create and execute marketing campaigns, including various social media campaigns (weekly and on-site coverage). 
  • Distribute event materials to local businesses and residential areas. 
  • Create and conduct surveys of event attendees. 
  • Research and propose various ideas to help improve the events. 
  • Assist in the design, promotion, and management of ETA’s volunteer program. 
  • Assist in the promotion and management of ETA’s membership program. 
  • Assist with database creation, organization, & data entry. 
  • Assist with other general office needs and improvements. 

Additional Event Specific Responsibilities:

Cathedral Square Market

  • Tracking hourly attendance, vendor participation, and vendor sales. 
  • Staffing the market info booth and serving as an onsite ambassador. 
  • Conducting market research to identify additional vendors. 

Bastille Days

  • Assist with Storm the Bastille run registration. 
  • Assist in the design and staffing of the Bastille Days merchandise booth. 
  • Assist in the design and promotion of a fundraiser for the Eiffel Tower. 
  • Assist in the design and management of various programming (e.g. Kids Day). 

Jazz in the Park

  • Monitoring & stocking the hospitality & backstage areas. 
  • Assist with any “VIP” guest programming. 
  • Assist in the design and staffing of the JITP merchandise booth. 
  • Serve as an onsite Jazz in the Park ambassador.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be able to work the specific dates and hours stated. 
  • Candidates must have the ability to work under pressure and handle high-energy events & attendees. 
  • Candidates need to be dependable, enthusiastic, personable, creative, dynamic, and eager to learn the event management business. 
  • Candidates must be a current student, preferably working towards a bachelor’s degree, but all majors welcome to apply. 
  • Marketing, social media marketing, and graphic design experience (professional or academic) are a plus.

This internship pays $12/hour. We are happy to work with you on earning academic credit for your time as well.
