The Westown Association is seeking an unpaid Marketing & Events Intern for spring 2020 (January – May). From January to March, primary focus will be on planning the 54th Annual Shamrock Club of Wisconsin St. Patrick’s Day Parade, as well as additional marketing and public relations tasks. This internship is for students with an interest in event planning, and are majoring in public relations, marketing or any communications related field. We’ll also work to help the student meet school credit requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Event Coordination of the 54th Annual Shamrock Club of Wisconsin St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Intern will assist staff with organization, planning and execution of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in downtown Milwaukee on Saturday, March 14, 2020. Duties include:
- Organizing the parade raffle
- Coordination & preparation of the VIP viewing party
- Assisting with brochure distribution
- Preparing parade email blasts & scheduling social media posts
- Preparing parade press releases & media-kits
Intern should also be available on Friday, March 13 for the parade press conference and kick-off party.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITES:
Intern will assist Marketing & Events Coordinator with general marketing and office management tasks such as:
- Preparing bi-monthly e-newsletters & event email blasts
- Preparing social media posts for Facebook, Twitter & Instagram
- Updating websites including westown.org, parkmilwaukee.com & saintpatricksparade.org
- Updating media contact lists
- Assisting with graphic design work if able
- Maintaining databases, mailing lists & vital records
- Helping with general office functions including answering phones, greeting guests, office maintenance, mass mailings, meeting preparation and other projects as assigned by the Marketing & Events Coordinator
