The United Community Center, a non-profit community-based organization is looking for a high level marketing communications professional to support the Marketing Department in the lead role of Media Relations and overall project management within the Marketing team.

The candidate we seek will work closely with the Marketing Director and other members of the Marketing Team to:

  • Manage all aspects of media and public relations including writing press releases, responding to media inquiries, preparing internal staff and ED for media interview and tracking all coverage. 
  • Act as lead project manager on marketing productions including taking responsibility of the “traffic” of marketing projects from inception, writing to design, production and mailing. 
  • Develop annual marketing plans for the agency working with the team to execute and deliver marketing strategies. 
  • be a critical member of the marketing team assisting with a variety marketing projects, social media, other communications assignment. 
  • Be the primary back up to the Marketing Director as needed.
  • Assists in developing the department’s strategic plan, which addresses the goals and outcomes desired in the marketing and communications area. The plan will set out objectives for each strategic area of the department and outlines plans for achieving those objectives. 
  • Creates and implements annual marketing communication plan for agency to advance the strategic goals of the agency and the department.
  • Manage the production calendar and traffic of all print and other projects including vendor management and staff assignments and coordination; vendor coordination and pricing
  • Manage all communication with local and national media, including drafting and distributing press releases, conducting consistent follow-up, and maintaining positives relationships
  • Supervise and oversee all media visits and track any agency coverage.
  • Maintain all media lists, insuring accurate, up-to-date information 
  • Assist with other agency writing needs including newsletter articles, success stories and grant applications.
  • Manage daily workflow and project execution of several team members, with potential supervisory responsibility in the future. 
  • Lead copywriter for agency communications and assist with proofreading all agency materials and copy.
  • Strategic and Project partner with Marketing and Development Director on a variety of strategic marketing and fundraising events, and role of back up to the Marketing Director when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, or related degree along with at least 7-10 years of experience with management of media relations and marketing project management with a broad range of experience and knowledge across all marketing functions from events, volunteer management, digital communications, and fundraising.

Superior and proven project management skills a must along with excellent writing skills and strong interpersonal communication.

Past experience in a supervisory role desired.

We are seeking a proactive and self-motivated professional who can work well independently and in a team; Bilingual in written and spoken Spanish strongly desired.

UCC offers a competitive compensation package. Salary commensurate with experience.  $52K-60K annual salary range for this position is based on experience.
