Westown Association is seeking a Marketing & Social Media Intern for summer/fall 2022. The primary focus of the internship will be on promoting the Milwaukee Night Market and the Westown Golf Open, as well as additional office and marketing tasks.
This internship is for students with an interest in marketing and event panning, and are majoring in public relations, marketing or any communications related field. We’ll also work to help the student meet school credit requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Promotion of the Milwaukee Night Market - Intern will assist staff with marketing strategy for the Milwaukee Night Market on West Wisconsin Avenue on Wednesdays June 15, July 13, August 17 and September 21.
Duties include:
- Preparing email newsletters
- Scheduling social media posts for Westown & Night Market social media channels
- Preparing press releases & media kits
- Updating content on westown.org & mkenightmarket.com
- Assisting with distribution of marketing materials
- Intern is required to be available on June 15, July 13, August 17 and September 21 from 10AM-11PM for on-site assistance which includes event set-up & take-down, collecting photos from the event & frequent social media updates.
- Event set-up & take-down requires tasks including moving tables, tents, cases of beer and liquor, fencing and other heavy and large items. Must be able to lift 50+ lbs. and be on feet for long periods of time.
Promotion of the 9th Annual Westown Golf Open- Intern will assist staff with marketing strategy for the Westown Golf Open at Western Lakes Golf Club on Monday, September 12.
Duties include:
- Preparing email newsletters
- Scheduling social media posts for Westown social media channels
- Updating golf outing content on westown.org
- Raffle prize & silent auction item solicitation
- Preparing outing booklets, signage & other design elements
- If schedule allows, intern is encouraged to attend the Westown Golf Outing on September 12 from 6AM–6PM for on-site assistance which includes set-up & take-down, collecting photos from the event & frequent social media updates.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITES:
Intern will assist Marketing & Events Director with general marketing and office management tasks such as:
- Preparing monthly email newsletters & event email blasts
- Preparing social media posts for Westown social media channels
- Maintaining westown.org content & images
- Maintaining databases, mailing lists & vital records
- Assisting with graphic design work
- Creating & updating Westown Intern Manual
- Assisting with preparation of other potential events including membership mixers and stakeholder meetings
- Helping with general office functions including mass mailings, meeting preparation, office maintenance and other projects as assigned by the Marketing & Events Director
