The Fox Cities are 19 communities along the Fox River in east central Wisconsin.  The Fox Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau celebrates and promotes the Fox Cities as a welcoming, safe, and engaging destination for people from all walks of life. We work directly with individuals, families, groups, meeting planners, business leaders, and sports tournament directors to answer questions, make suggestions, optimize plans, and welcome visitors. Our 10-person staff includes professionals in visitor services, sports marketing, group sales, marketing, and communications. Each day we have the priviledge of promoting the destination we call home to potential visitors.

Responsible for the development, implementation and management of the Fox Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Brand and Marketing Communications with a goal of increasing the number of visitors to the Fox Cities. The Marketing Communications Director develops and implements an annual Destination Marketing Plan for the CVB as a tool for marketing the destination and is then responsible for implementing all strategies and achieving all annual goals set forth in the plan as they relate to the CVB Marketing Department.

  • Responsible for brand management, including research, development and ensuring all communications are consistent with the CVB brand. 
  • Oversee advertising campaigns including creative development and media buying. 
  • Oversee production of all collateral from concept to completion. 
  • Oversee production of the CVB’s annual Destination Guide. 
  • Monitor market research studies to acquire target market information and industry trends. 
  • Select and manage third party service vendors, including advertising agencies, designers, photographers, web technology vendors, etc. Regularly review the effectiveness and value of these relationships. 
  • Directly responsible for meeting annual budget projections of the Marketing Department including revenue and expenditures. Recommend the allocation of funding dollars annually for marketing projects. 
  • Direct communications programs targeted at the CVB’s various audiences (consumers, general public, media, industry professionals, civic and community organizations).
  • Develop and implement public relations campaigns by releasing news releases; coordinating site visits for travel writers; creating promotional packages; providing regional images for various publications; making presentations highlighting tourism as requested, and facilitating media interviews as needed. 
  • Provide regional public/media relations assistance to state and national media and the Wisconsin Department of Tourism.
  • Along with the Executive Director, serve as liaison with the media. 
  • Write and edit all communications projects.
  • Communicate new trends of business, marketing or merchandising concepts or product changes to department personnel.
  • Attend local, state and national leisure tourism meetings to further communication and partnerships within the industry.
  • Participate in special bid presentations, promotional projects and events as appropriate, i.e. annual Tourism Breakfast, National Tourism Week, etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing or related field.
  • 3+ years professional experience preferred.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Familiarity with current marketing technology including: Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, WordPress, etc.).
  • Knowledge of the Fox Cities.
  • Availability to work as needed, evenings and weekends included.
