We are seeking a marketing communications manager in Chicago (Deerfield now, moving to Oakbrook Terrace in fall 2015) to manage the nonprofit communications for two associations.

As a Marketing Communications Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing internal and external marketing and communications programs for three (or more) of Kellen’s professional society clients. Activities include marketing strategy and implementation, developing and/or editing a wide range of print and digital marketing pieces including website and social media content, newsletters and press releases for educational events and conferences, membership development, and sales of association programs and services.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Strategize, develop and execute integrated communications and marketing plans for professional societies and trade associations and their wide variety of events and products 
  • Serve as liaison to related association committees and volunteers 
  • Moderate level of direct client contact 
  • Managing budgets 
  • Ability to work in and foster a collaborative work environment with other team members 
  • Serve as an involved member of Kellen

QUALIFICATIONS:

BS/BA in a discipline related to communications with a minimum of five years of applicable experience. Applicants must have prior experience in managing communications programs, social media strategy, and press/media relations. A working knowledge of associations and professional societies, board/volunteer led organizations especially those involved in health care, business and science communications, are a plus. Superb written and oral communication skills required. Applicants should be up-to-date on social and digital media.

Candidates must have a passion for the changing communications and public relations industry; be self-motivated yet enjoy working in a collaborative environment; exhibit sound judgment, problem solving skills and good interpersonal skills.

The office is in Oakbrook Terrace, IL. Local candidate is preferred, however a candidate working from one of these Kellen offices will be considered: Atlanta, Denver, New York, Washington, DC, Brussels and Beijing.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • BS/BA with a minimum of five years of applicable experience 
  • Highly productive when working independently and work well in a team environment 
  • Experience working with volunteers 
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal & presentation) and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of people 
  • Sound judgment, exceptional organizational skills, consistent attention to detail and prioritization of deadlines 
  • Ability to manage and resolve interpersonal and client issues 
  • Ability to multi-task and juggle deadlines 
  • Budget/financial adherence 
  • Ability to travel, both domestically and internationally, which may involve multiple consecutive nights away from home and may include occasional weekend travel
