CHS is seeking a self-driven, strategic content creator to join our award-winning communications team as a Marketing Communications Specialist supporting its Global Grain & Processing business unit and CHS Hedging, a wholly owned commodity brokerage service. This newly created position is a great growth and development opportunity, as the successful candidate will work to build their business acumen and understanding of the company through creation of a broad range of content (digital and print) for distribution across numerous internal and external channels.

The Marketing Communications Specialist will lead, develop and execute marketing communications tactics, including media relations, social media, campaign planning, and implementation. The successful person will have proven success in developing, supporting, and executing strategic communications and collaboration with stakeholders that drive business results. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can successfully create multi-channel content, including message development, story writing, internal communications and announcements.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and provide strategic support of marketing communications initiatives and programs for CHS Global Grain & Processing and CHS Hedging. Assist with marketing communications plans, execution of tactics, creating materials and resources, key messages, advertising and promotion materials, trade show material and communications, PowerPoint presentations, etc. 
  • Create internal employee communications and content for e-newsletters directed to Global Grain & Processing and CHS Hedging employees, owners, and customers 
  • Collaborate with marketing communications digital content teams acting as the point of contact for business unit social media content on enterprise social media calendar 
  • Work directly with CHS Hedging on continuous improvement marketing initiatives, including social media strategy and engagement 
  • Support key media relations with trade journalists to advance CHS strategies and increase brand awareness 
  • Support current media relations tactics, including scheduling and production needs, spokesperson preparation, measurement, and merchandising to internal audiences 
  • Lead the development and execution of biannual CHS media event 
  • Assist with the development of senior leadership communications and presentations 
  • Develop trusted relationships with stakeholders to drive collaboration and results

Minimum Qualifications (required):

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or public relations

5-7+ years of experience in a corporate marketing communications department, public relations, advertising agency, or media organization

Direct professional work experience:

  • Develop messages and content creation for digital, social, and print platforms
  • Support and develop strategic marketing communications plans for multiple, simultaneous initiatives

Proficient in MS Office Suite and application

Additional Qualifications:

  • Direct professional work experience or hands-on knowledge of agriculture
