The Marketing Communications (Marcom) Specialist manages all advertising and promotional (A&P) activities for the Life Science, Industrial and Medical Divisions of Leica Microsystems in Americas. Their efforts aid in building our brand presence, ensuring that customers and potential customers receive our message and result in the generation of sales ready leads.

On-time and on-budget Project Management is critical to the success of the Marcom Specialist. This individual manages inputs from multiple locations and assimilates all into a media plan that assists the segment Marketing Managers, and the overall organization, in meeting the business objectives. The Marcom Specialist quarterbacks the execution of our annual A&P plans through both internal and external resources.

Financial management of the A&P budget, along with monthly forecasting, is also critical to success. The Marcom Specialist is the traffic manager for A&P dollars going in and out of each business segment. In addition, this individual negotiates with 3rd party suppliers with Leica’s best interest in mind and seeks out new providers that add value to our A&P plans.

The Marcom Specialist is able to take highly technical content and condense it down to concise and interesting copy by utilizing their excellent writing skills. This individual also proofs content from sources around the organization to ensure our message is easily understood.

Digital savvy and traditional mode experience is required of the Marcom Specialist to deliver a truly integrated marketing campaign. The individual assists in development of content and value propositions that resonate, and deployment of said messages through electronic (and other) means with the ultimate goals of building our contact database and generating qualified sales leads. He or she delivers our message through the modes that potential customers will attach to and helps to measure the impact (ROI) of our efforts.

Key Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • A&P project plan management 
  • Financial management of A&P budgets, monthly forecasts and 3rd party provider negotiations 
  • Technical content development, writing and proof reading 
  • Multi-modal marketing campaign management 
  • Write, proof and/or manage the placement of relevant content on external PR websites, including news sites and business associations 
  • Manages internal and contract resources for program execution 
  • Creation of Standard Work on critical processes for in-house staff and outsource partners; along with training to ensure understanding 
  • Deploy content through ActOn email marketing program 
  • Manage the placement of relevant content on external PR websites, including news sites and business associations

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years Marketing experience in a for-profit (preferably B2B) org 
  • Skilled in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign 
  • Proven Project Management experience with process-oriented mind set 
  • Budgeting, forecasting and financial management experience 
  • Excellent written communication skills, ability to summarize highly technical content and proof-reading expertise 
  • Strong email marketing expertise & experience with email marketing systems 
  • Managing agencies and 3rd party partners, including cost negotiation skills 
  • Proven Event Marketing expertise 
  • Deep understanding of "how the web works" from a customer perspective (e.g. user experience, behavioural, data, social) and from an executional standpoint – must know how to execute campaigns online and prove hands on capability including search, email, display, web and campaign analytics

Education:

  • BA / BS degree 
  • Communications Degree preferred
