Marketing Coordinator - Design

Guardian Credit Union

In 1934, Harnischfeger Corporation employees in West Milwaukee, Wisconsin established a credit union to provide a source of credit at a fair interest rate and the opportunity for its members to improve their economic and social conditions.

In 1986, the membership voted to expand the charter to a community credit union serving any persons living or working in Milwaukee and Waukesha counties.

Guardian Credit Union is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and is headquartered in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. Guardian currently has over $275 Million in assets and over 30,000 members, ranking us in the top thirty in members and assets for credit unions in Wisconsin.

Our current membership eligibility includes those living or working in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington, Ozaukee, Racine, Kenosha or Walworth counties. Every day more members turn to Guardian as a premier resource for auto loans, mortgages and savings options.

Guardian is committed to the development of its staff and offers a unique opportunity for growth in all functions of our business. Many of our senior-level managers started at the credit union as branch tellers and have advanced their careers within the organization.

Your creativity shows. You find happiness in generating creative ideas and translating them into visuals that speak volumes. You enjoy wearing other hats too, as you use and develop other marketing skills. If this sounds like you, if want to be a part of a team that drives marketing success, we’re looking for you.

As the part of a small marketing department, no two days will be exactly the same and you’ll dabble in a variety of marketing functions. But here’s an idea of how you’ll spend your time.

You’ll typically start your day by updating rates for posting in our branches and online.

From there you might begin designing components of a marketing campaign, working with others in the Marketing Department and across the company.

Depending on the day or hour, your work might include developing content for print, web, social, video or event projects.

You’ll be on top of the visual representation of the Guardian brand. Your day will often involve assisting branch offices and other departments with displays and marketing materials.  You’ll strive to understand their unique needs and communicate the details of marketing initiatives to ensure the timely, accurate and consistent update of materials.

As you go about your day, you may generate and compile content from internal and external resources for Guardian’s social media channels and will contribute to the growth and engagement of Guardian’s social media presence.

Other digital platforms will be a part of your day too. You could be tasked with updating content on the Guardian employee Intranet, the public-facing website, and our online banking platform.

You’ll frequently have a tab of your browser open to our marketing automation system to design email content and assist with the development of campaigns.

You’ll spend some time beyond your desk too, as you maintain and restock inventory of marketing materials and supplies and coordinate distribution to our branches and other departments.

Throughout the year, you’ll have days where you’re spending your time coordinating logistics for Guardian’s participation in community or company events and communicating details to staff.

Your working relationships will extend beyond Guardian, as a part of your day may include communicating and coordinating projects with external vendors and partners.

Part of completing a marketing project in the credit union world means understanding and seeking the appropriate compliance review. You’ll often be responsible for reaching out to our Compliance Department for reviews and approval.

You have a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Graphic Design or a related field OR you have at least 2 years’ experience in graphic design and creative development.

Whether you have a degree or experience, you’re able to show your graphic designs skills and knowledge of design concepts.

You know the ins and outs of Adobe Creative Cloud and can create amazing work using the products.  Please be prepared to submit at least 3 samples of your graphic design work or provide a link to an online portfolio containing at least 3 such samples.

You’re familiar with a variety of social media channels (including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn) and are well-versed in their business uses.

You can communicate well with others.

You can stay on your toes in a fast-paced work environment.

You maintain confidentiality.

You’re able to lift around 50 pounds.

You have a valid driver’s license and will be able to occasionally travel between branches.

Compensation is dependent upon experience.
