Position Summary:

The Marketing and Consumer Data Analyst works within the marketing and communications department by providing data analysis to support strategic and tactical decision making. Responsible for tracking results, researching consumer behavior and exploring market insights, trends and opportunities, to inform marketing budget decisions.

As a marketing data expert, this position influences decisions using strong analytical thinking and communications skills by turning data into insights that inform actions that solve marketing challenges.

This role plays an integral part in the development of marketing data analysis, connecting data within disparate systems and developing processes and tools for data automation and dashboarding. Responsible for helping internal marketing and communications team understand the numbers and assess the results of strategies and tactics.

Education:

  • Bachelors degree required in business, marketing, economics, mathematics, or other related field or commensurate experience required
  • MBA or masters degree a plus

Experience:

  • 5+ years of marketing data experience in analytics or reporting, working within a marketing organization/agency or marketing department; experience working for a healthcare or other service industry a plus
  • Experience in research methods a plus

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong background in quantitative research and analysis (e.g., statistics, finance, mathematics or economics)
  • Ability to interpret and model data, and to work independently within a data warehouse
  • Ability to validate test data and pull disparate data together and mine data using statistical best practices
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivots, tables and functions)
  • Familiarity with database queries and languages (e.g., SQL and R)
  • Familiarity with visualization methods and dashboard tools or modern business intelligence tools (Tableau, Qlik, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of common statistical analysis methods and tools (e.g., SAS and SPSS)
  • Digital marketing platform skills, including common website analytics platforms, widely used ad serving and technology platforms, and social listening and analytics platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and to communicate with both technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams (e.g., sales, strategy and business development, IT, information security and identity management)
  • Ensure timely delivery of reporting and insights, and build user-friendly answers to marketing questions such as performance, customer insights, purchase funnel, etc.
