The mission of the Milwaukee Chamber Theatre is to produce intimate, high-quality, professional theatrical works of literary merit that engage and challenge the audience, while employing and nurturing principally local theatre artists.

MCT was co-founded in 1975 by two local actors, Montgomery Davis and Ruth Schudson, who envisioned a space where audiences could open their minds to new theatrical ideas and Milwaukee's theater professionals could broaden their skills and apply their craft. Since our founding, MCT has fearlessly pursued our mission and is now known as one of Milwaukee’s artistic homes for local talent, a leader in new play development, and, ultimately, the place where great stories are told.

Milwaukee Chamber Theatre (MCT) is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and experienced marketing professional to serve as Director of Marketing.

Job Description:

The Director of Marketing will strategize and implement all marketing and public relations efforts for MCT and serve as the central storyteller for the organization in collaboration with staff leadership. This position requires a passionate individual with excellent communication and time management skills. The position reports to and is supported by the Managing Director and will collaborate with the entire MCT staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute an annual marketing and advertising campaign that supports the Mainstage season, education programming, ancillary artistic programming, and fundraising efforts. 
  • Create and distribute press releases and coordinate all press relations for MCT staff. 
  • Create and manage organic and paid social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn, and be willing to adapt to changing technological platforms. 
  • Design and coordinate the annual subscription campaign including pricing strategy, mailings, and patron coordination, in conjunction with the Broadway Theatre Center box office staff. 
  • Oversee and manage the marketing budget including participating in annual budget preparation, annual sales projections, and budget reconciliation. 
  • Maintain and monitor traffic for the MCT website. Manage SEO plan and provide regular website analytics. 
  • Effectively and accurately maintain ticket reports and patron accounts in Tessitura database system. 
  • Create and oversee performance programs and the printing of Audience Guides. 
  • Serve as staff lead for the MCT Marketing Committee and collaborate on leadership initiatives. 
  • Create and update graphics, and contract designers as needed. 
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • 3-5 years of demonstrated success in professional marketing position. Theatre, arts, or live event marketing experience preferred. 
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills. 
  • Knowledge of the Milwaukee community and willingness to learn more. 
  • Must demonstrate ability to multi-task, problem solve, and think creatively. 
  • Understanding of the performing arts patron experience. 
  • Microsoft Suite proficiency, Wix or similar web editor proficiency. HTML or additional programming languages, and Google Analytics knowledge are a plus. 
  • Tessitura or related CRM experience 
  • Ideal candidate will exhibit creativity, enthusiasm, and appreciation of theatrical performance. 
  • Some nights and weekends required. 
  • Applicant must have a reliable means of transportation to the Third Ward District and can lift and carry heavy objects up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work will require extended use of a computer keyboard and monitor.

$50,000 plus benefits including health, dental, vision, and life insurance.
