Marketing Intern

Primary Purpose:

Fulfills business needs by performing a variety of marketing activities including but not limited to writing, graphic design, social media, event assistance, and customer service in accordance with departmental and company guidelines and standards.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Writes and prepares additional written content for communication vehicles including emails, blog, web site, print, and other collateral. 
  • Assists with social media efforts and online presence. This may involve researching/creating material for posts and using analytics to evaluate results. 
  • Produces and updates creative marketing materials or works with third-party vendors to develop them. Assists team in preparation and execution of marketing events as assigned. This may include contacts with venues and vendors as well as assistance with specific event details and communications. 
  • Develops and distributes marketing leads; scrubs leads from partner trade associations and other third-party sources to make sure they are not current Society policyholders; maintains records on the effectiveness of lead campaigns. 
  • Assembles marketing materials and promotional items as assigned. 
  • Contributes to overall Marketing function by completing a variety of assigned projects and duties as assigned with accuracy and timeliness.

Required:

  • Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, web management, or a related field. 
  • Full-time junior or senior collegiate status. 
  • 3.0 or better cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Basic computer software knowledge (word processing, e-mail, accessing and updating databases). 
  • Experience with operating typical office machines (such as a copy machine, fax machine, computer). 
  • Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record as determined by Society Insurance.

Preferred:

  • Prior office experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Working Conditions and Environment:

  • Work is performed at corporate location, which is indoor and climate-controlled.
  • Travel may be required to attend agency events, trade shows, or related activities.

Physical Demands:

  • Light (up to 10 lbs.) lifting occurs frequently. 
  • Long periods of sitting and focusing on a computer screen may occur.
