The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the nation’s leading advocacy organization for children’s healthcare, seeks an experienced marketing professional to develop and manage marketing plans for assigned AAP professional resources. This individual will lead promotional efforts across channels to drive awareness, engagement, and revenue, and monitor market trends to inform positioning and pricing. The role also includes oversight of campaign execution, budget planning, and performance analysis to ensure marketing goals and financial targets are achieved. A solid background in mass media, direct response, and promotions marketing management, including budget development and forecasting, is required. Experience with publishing, subscriptions, social media marketing, digital advertising, and/or medical association marketing is preferred.

Some duties include:

  • Develop, manage, and implement marketing strategies for assigned professional products and services to achieve budgeted sales forecasts and program goals.
  • Manage the execution of annual plans outlining the frequency and sequence of marketing efforts. Manage and adhere to marketing budgets and conduct ROI reviews of marketing programs.
  • Prepare annual budget recommendations for assigned promotional activities in collaboration with Director, Marketing. Consistently monitor, report on variances, and make recommendations for plan adjustments to ensure annual budget is met. Conduct financial analysis of marketing campaigns and tactics for assigned products.
  • Collaborate with content and program managers for assigned products and services to ensure marketability and product positioning. Monitor trends that indicate the need for new products and services.
  • Assist with analyzing costs of promotional tactics choosing cost-effective methods to maximize results. Utilize sales forecasting to ensure sales and profitability of assigned product lines, analyzing business developments and market trends.
  • Prepare, create, and monitor product information for product setup on shopAAP. Develop go-to-market strategies for new products, identifying and communicating target markets and competitive differentiation.
  • Participate in annual pricing review to maximize revenue and market share while ensuring customer satisfaction. Evaluate customer needs, buying behavior, market trends, and competition in review of pricing structure.
  • Document and communicate product positioning, messaging, and value across assigned product lines to management team and target audience.
  • Evaluate communications and promotional materials from other organizations to identify best practices and benchmark professional products and services.
  • Prepare ongoing updates of assigned product line performance and promotional activities and provide analysis of results for management team.
  • Participate in cross team and department marketing activities to promote collaboration and identify opportunities for cross promotion.
  • Staff AAP exhibits, as requested, to promote awareness and sales of AAP resources.
  • Update and maintain standard operating procedures as required.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or related discipline required, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience. 
  • At least three years’ related experience in mass media/direct response and promotions marketing management required, including budget development and forecasting. Experience with publishing, subscriptions, social media marketing, digital advertising, and/or medical association marketing preferred.
  • Excellent project management, organization, verbal/written communication, critical thinking, diplomacy, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Strong technical acumen essential with proficiency in MS Office and the ability to learn and apply new technologies; experience with Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, HTML, document collaboration platforms (e.g., SharePoint), virtual meeting platforms (e.g., WebEx, Teams), budgeting software (e.g., Acumatica), and electronic survey tools (e.g., Zoomerang) preferred.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, work within established budgets, think creatively, work both independently and as part of a team, take initiative, collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituents, and maintain and promote a positive and cooperative team-oriented work environment with a commitment to fostering a culture where everyone feels valued and respected.

  • Some travel and evening/weekend work may be required.
