Introduction – Organizational Details:

Barilla America, Inc. wants to recruit a Marketing Manager - US Bakery in Northbrook, IL. The individual will report to the Marketing Director US Bakery.


Barilla has a successful business on Meal Solutions in the U.S:, owning premium shares on Dry Pasta and Pesto catgegories and continously growing on Premium Sauces. While having an expanding - however still small-business on Wasa, the Company had identified the creation of a Bakery portfolio in the U.S. as a strategic priority, as another significant growth engine aside Meal Solutions. An agile, knowledgeable team will work on framing this opportunity/vision and identify the organic and non organic levers of successful growth there.

Job Purpose:

To support the Marketing Director to scout the U.S. Bakery market (segments, consumers, competitors, channels) in order to identify the opportunities for products and technologies that establish a second leg in the U.S. Support the Central M&A team in identifying targets for acquisition to compliment the portfolio. Support the integration of future acquired business(es) within Barilla and lead the deployment of new products/technologies within the U.S. portfolio.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support the Marketing Director in the definition of the brand strategy, equity and positioning when scouting for acquisition opportunities 
  • Identify the segments, and channels in partnership with external consultants and bankers for targets 
  • Partner with the Marketing Director for marketing plan coherently with the brand’s positioning, integrating core information related to the categories of competence in terms of targets and resource allocated. 
  • Lead workstream for the integration post acquisition. 
  • Constantly monitor the market with the purpose of supplying an adequate knowledge of market trend by gathering data, acquiring research, keeping in constant contact with sales structures and through an analysis of brand awareness and customer needs/reactions.
  • Ensure the realization of the bakery pillar within the portfolio growth in the US market.
  • Support the proper integration into the US Marketing organization post closing


  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business; MBA preferred 
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in Marketing within a CPG company with direct knowledge of the Bakery categories in the U.S. (Cookies, Crackers, Dry Bread, Fresh Bread and Pastries...) 
  • Solid knowledge and experience in brand development in the bakery categories 
  • M&A Experience and international experience is a plus 
  • Experience with budget and market plan development and execution; and managing against plan 
  • Ability to travel up to 25% including domestic and international 
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and an agile and flexible approach to growth
