This position is divided 70/30 between direct marketing responsibilities (70%) and supervision/management (30%). Hands-on responsibilities for marketing include digital planning, web site content management, e-mail marketing and other electronic marketing initiatives. Responsible for planning, development and implementation of the health system’s marketing strategies, marketing communications, and public relations activities. Oversees Coordinators in the Community Relations department including, marketing, volunteers, and Gift Shop.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Responsible for content management of the health system’s web sites with objectives to develop and expand a quality internet marketing plan. 
  • Works with marketing team to divide responsibilities for current marketing endeavors and expand efforts where necessary. 
  • Improves specific outreach marketing including a primary focus on NorthPointe Health and Wellness Campus by reviewing and improving exposure in the northern Illinois area. 
  • Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of the health system’s marketing, communication and public relations program that will enhance the organization’s image and position within the marketplace and community. 
  • Aligns marketing strategies with operational budgets. 
  • In cooperation with marketing personnel, develops and maintains project schedules, timelines, and budget. 
  • Assures projects are prioritized and meet required deadlines. 
  • Manages the daily operations of Marketing/Community Relations, resolving problems as they occur. 
  • Implements, interprets and monitors Health System and departmental policies and procedures. 
  • Coordinates human resource activities for the department. 
  • Prepares, implements and monitors annual operating, labor and capital equipment budgets. 
  • Evaluates and responds to variances. 
  • Keeps abreast of changes and new developments in field of expertise. 
  • Acts as one of the organization’s representatives with the media. 
  • Is familiar with TV, radio, print, newsletter, video, photography and social media forms of marketing. 
  • Oversees the appearance of all organization print and electronic materials such as logos, brochures, etc. 
  • Provides counsel to physicians/departments on marketing, communications and public relations. 
  • Triages physicians marketing needs to balance with the organization’s strategic plan. 
  • Maintains a climate that attracts, retains and motivates top quality personnel, both paid and volunteer. 
  • Reports to the Executive Director of Marketing on a scheduled basis and provides administrative support in the form of reports, budgets. 
  • Maintains good interdepartmental and intradepartmental relations by providing high level of service and open communication. 
  • Demonstrates ability to perform functions accurately and efficiently with computer software application appropriate to position.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1. KNOWLEDGE AND TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, business or related degree. 
  • At least five years of experience in healthcare marketing. 
  • Five years management experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Adobe in-design. 
  • Technical expertise in internet marketing and web content management. 
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills. 
  • Ability to plan, organize, lead and make decisions. 
  • Experience in writing and expediting marketing materials. 
  • Proficiency in technology, web strategy, web development and digital marketing.

2. AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Adheres to established Health System policies, rules and regulations. 
  • Maintains ethical conduct and keeps personal and medical information about patients and employees confidential. 
  • Position supervises Media Coordinator, Communications Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator.  
  • Reporting Relationship: Executive Director

3. PHYSICAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Successful completion of pre-placement physical examination. 
  • Involves extended periods of sitting and walking. 
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively. 
  • Requires the ability to see and hear at a level sufficient to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation. 
  • Requires ability to work alone and independently, in a group setting.
