Position Details

Marketing Manager
Chicago Illinois
Chicago / Remote, IL

Boingo provides high-speed Wi-Fi to service members at more than 65 military bases around the world. The Marketing Manager, Military role is an instrumental member of our marketing team that focuses on our military vertical. This role serves as a key evangelist of the Boingo brand, products, initiatives, and services, so strategy is important, execution is key, and exceptional writing/communication skills are paramount. In this role you’ll have your hand in everything from marketing communications, customer experience and product marketing. This is a remote position; however, if you prefer an office-based environment, our amazing Los Angeles HQ is available.

Marketing Communications

  • As the head of all consumer communications for the team, you will write, schedule, and deploy customer communication (email, SMS, social) and content 
  • You’ll counsel the Field Marketing and Customer Care teams to ensure all communications are strategic, on brand, timely, and visually appealing. 
  • You’ll write all communication touchpoints for customer journey

Customer Experience

  • You’ll put yourself in the customer’s boots to ensure everything we do has them in mind. 
  • You’ll uncover points of friction on all touchpoints and develop recommendations for improvement 
  • Work with the Customer Care team to provide input and customer communications when service escalations that occur. 
  • Provide customer-facing error messaging, so that customers can resolve issues without driving contact

Field Marketing

  • Manage the event management contractor relationship, including the updating of training for brand ambassadors 
  • Create Smartsheet forms for event sign-ups 
  • Aid with turn-key media kits to be utilized on base to ensure consistent brand awareness 
  • Assist with Field Marketing team with Salesforce support

Product Marketing

  • Work with the Product team in support of new product launches. 
  • Create and launch comprehensive marketing plans for new products 
  • Assist with ad hoc research projects (i.e., competitive landscape, local base insights, etc.)


  • Five years of relevant professional experience. 
  • Exceptional copywriting skills and the ability to translate the Boingo brand voice into a wide variety of tactics and compelling marketing materials 
  • Outstanding communication skills for a variety of audiences and comfort presenting in a group 
  • Ability to think strategically/big picture yet easily ensure all the i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed 
  • Juggle multiple projects, stay organized and prioritize deadlines with ease 
  • Strong bias for delivering an outstanding customer experience at every touch point 
  • Comfort compiling and analyzing multiple types of marketing/customer data 
  • Stellar personal reputation and professional credibility 
  • You are curious, interested in learning new things, have a positive attitude, and will roll up your sleeves for whatever our team is asked to accomplish 
  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing or a related field (MBA a plus)


While not necessary, we’d love you to have:

  • Knowledge of the military vertical 
  • Hands-on experience with a wide variety of tools (Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Sitecore, WordPress, MS Office) 
  • Willingness to travel on occasion
