CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

The Product Manager role will be a part of the product management team in the Sherwin Williams General Industrial Division, championing portfolio optimization and complexity reduction efforts in North America. This role is highly visible driving results in a complex environment. This position requires high critical thinking and cross functional collaboration / communication skills to drive processes and results to make the team successful.

Major Responsibilities:

Portfolio Optimization and Complexity Reduction:

  • Responsible for portfolio simplification efforts including product line consolidation, SKU rationalization and raw material consolidation. 
  • Process owner, leading and driving across functional teams to deliver 
  • Proactively driving continuous improvement and best practices within the team.

Supply Chain Risk Management and Product Availability:

  • Working closely with commercial team to effectively identify supply chain risk and bottle necks on products. 
  • Coordinate and communicate cross functionally (supply chain, manufacturing, demand planning, R&D, and sales) to drive solutions to resolve issues quickly

Project Management

  • Drive strategic projects to improve cost positions and reduce complexity in the business 
  • Drive and deliver on tech transfers opportunities for the business 
  • Lead problem product analysis projects, as needed. 
  • Drive and support ongoing analysis need to drive decisions within the business

Team Management

  • Coaching, mentor & train the team in building analytical skill sets and fostering collaboration/cross functional influencing skills. 
  • Build team credibility, influence, and brand of the team across the organization

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

FORMAL EDUCATION: (GENERALLY, IF RELEVANT EXPERIENCE IS ACCEPTABLE, THE CANDIDATE MUST HAVE THREE YEARS OF WORK EXPERIENCE FOR EVERY ONE YEAR OF COLLEGE EDUCATION REQUIRED)

Required:

  • College degree

Preferred:

  • MBA Degree in Business, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other technical field

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • 7-10+ years industry experience

Preferred:

  • Previous product management experience 
  • Strong knowledge of industrial paints and chemicals 
  • Experience working with complex supply chains 
  • Previous management of contract manufactures 
  • Experience leading teams
