The Marcus Theatres Marketing department has a position for Marketing/Social Media Intern open for application. This paid position will work under the general supervision of the Social Media Specialist and Advertising Manager.

All applicants must be going into their Junior or Senior years of college and have the ability to work full time during the summer and part-time during the school year. The Social Media Intern is responsible for assisting in the development and execution of social media strategy that increases brand reach. The intern will help moderate, respond to, and inspire promotional communications via social applications including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to encourage the exchange of content. This is a fun and exciting opportunity to work in the fast-paced entertainment industry, specifically focusing on motion picture exhibition.

  • Creates weekly content calendars, establishes deadlines and handles asset coordination for social media channels and Marcus Theatres’ websites
  • Generates social media content for daily posting to increase brand visibility
  • Responds to Facebook and Twitter, and Instagram inquiries
  • Connects with key audiences and actively builds and engages followers and supporters
  • Monitors social media sites and participates to build brand visibility
  • Conducts routine research to understand competitors as it relates to content and social media strategy
  • Develops relationships with key social media ambassadors and/or bloggers to engage/activate them 
  • Gathers and analyzes market research to determine social media opportunities and competitive landscape
  • Attends off-site events and photo shoots as necessary to garner content for social platforms
  • Fulfills social media contest prize distribution
  • Performs other marketing and administrative duties
  • Active pursuit of a degree or position in communications, marketing, public relations or related field
  • Attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team environment with quickly shifting priorities
  • Very strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Interest in social media and experience managing social media pages including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.
  • Knowledge of Hootsuite or other monitoring mechanisms strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational and analytics skills
  • Willing to work flexible hours to assist in achieving efficient coverage
  • Proficiency in all MS Office programs (especially Excel)
  • Well organized and self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team environment with quickly shifting priorities
