Position Overview:

The individual in this position will develop and enhance the marketing efforts and visibility of university departments, their programs and campaigns. The individual will be responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing the execution of all aspects of marketing projects including defining project scope, creating marketing briefs and plans, establishing schedules and deadlines, communicating with designers, writers and other project stakeholders, coordinating printing and tracking results.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate and implement marketing projects (include print, web, publications, advertising, events and research) from concept to completion. Set deadlines, follow detailed project management plans, work closely with creative leads, monitor and summarize progress of project. Coordinate print buying with outside vendors.
  2. In collaboration with university department representatives and OMC, take the lead role in developing, managing and executing strategic marketing briefs and plans (as appropriate) to achieve partners goals and objectives.
  3. Lead and manage traditional and digital communications and marketing campaigns to engage target audiences.
  4. Plan and manage budget and vendor payments for departments. In coordination with departments, responsible for statements of work, purchase orders, approvals and coordination with departments to determine best use of funds.
  5. Develop proactive outreach plan for university partners and maintain partnerships across campus.
  6. Measure how campaigns are performing against stated objectives and use ongoing analytics to make changes to program and marketing roadmaps/campaigns informed by audience response.
  7. Develop, analyze, and manage the reporting on performance metrics. Report on key success metrics and analytics to provide thorough business analysis and strategic program and tactical recommendations.
  8. In collaboration with advertising specialist, develop advertising initiatives, investigate new opportunities and incorporate market research to positively impact programs and projects.
  9. Maintain best-practices knowledge of marketing and communication practices directed toward key audiences.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, advertising, business communications or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of project and/or account management experience in a marketing context.
  • Requires knowledge of marketing and campaign planning, implementation and measurement.
  • Ability to identify objectives and to plan, budget and execute marketing projects in support of stated objectives.
  • Familiarity with Content Management Systems for making web updates.
  • Excellent project management, organizational and time management skills required.
  • Counsel and lead as needed, assess requests and make recommendations on marketing tactics and implementation
  • Exceptional interpersonal ability and written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Familiarity with Marquette University

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in a marketing environment with exposure to all facets of marketing and campaign planning, implementation and planning.
  • Familiarity with marketing strategies, theories and tactics, as well as hands-on experience planning and executing marketing campaigns.
  • Demonstrated experience with print buying.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience in consulting, marketing planning, project management, media planning, client communication, and leading creative service teams and vendors.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and project management software.
  • Keeps current on marketing trends, confidence making recommendations for new techniques to benefit the university.
  • Confident and strong negotiation skills.
  • Past experience demonstrates willingness to learn new skills, take on new responsibilities and confidence in decision-making.
  • Experience working in higher education or health care.
