This position assists account executives with L&F’s clients, as well as helping with operational needs of the firm.

You’ll work to carry out the goals and objectives of Leonard & Finco Public Relations, Inc., under the direction and guidance of the L&F management team.

1. An account assistant will work with one or more account executives in whatever capacity is needed. Tasks may include but are not limited to: 

  • Brainstorming client ideas 
  • Drafting, designing and scheduling of social media posts
  • Drafting and design of newsletters (electronic and print), brochures, flyers and other print or electronic collateral 
  • Development of video blogs and whiteboard videos 
  • Development of media databases and targeted lists 
  • Content creation, including: news releases, website copy, newsletter copy, media alerts, etc.
  • Creating task and timelines as well as social media content calendars 
  • Research 
  • Assist with the data collection and creation of regular client reporting 
  • Organizing events and activities

2. With oversight provided by the operations manager, the account assistant is responsible for maintaining and organizing media clips for clients. This includes the monitoring of various search providers and creating the appropriate copies for clients and company archives:

  • Review, save, scan, print and file media clips found through various search providers. This includes print, online and video-based news clips. 
  • Maintain client clip books (print and electronic); create and assemble copies for client distribution, ensuring all books and copies are neat and professional in appearance.
  • Responsible for making sure all broadcast recording machines are properly set, reviewing newscasts when appropriate and compiling client stories for the client and L&F records.

3. An account assistant must plan, schedule and prioritize work responsibilities and adhere to deadlines in the daily working environment as well as in a crisis situation.

4. An account assistant must ensure accuracy and accountability of all client records, receipts and timesheets. They must maintain a daily log of all activities.

5. Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings.

6. Continue to study and learn about industry and technology developments through extensive reading, seminar/webinar attendance, etc.

7. While it is not the norm, the account assistant must have flexibility to be able to work nights, weekends or occasional holidays when the clientele needs are outside of normal working hours or when the job requires extra time or effort.

8. Must follow and adhere to company rules and regulations as well as standards of conduct outlined in the Leonard & Finco Public Relations, Inc. employee handbook.

1. Educational requirements include a minimum of an associate’s degree in a communications field, preferably a bachelor’s degree.

2. Preferably 1-2 years of industry experience; would consider some internship or volunteer experience in the profession or as a journalist.

3. Strong attention to detail.

4. Be organized and accurate.

5. Ability to follow a prescribed process.

6. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Power Point, Excel, and Publisher) and Adobe Acrobat.

7. Working knowledge of various social media platforms. Knowledge of social media advertising a plus.

8. Graphic design experience and experience with Canva, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and/or Illustrator.

9. Experience with video editing programs (imovie, idvd, Premier Pro). Both Mac and PC experience a plus.

10. Must be a self-starter and a team player.

11. Must possess demonstrated abilities to write, organize, set priorities and meet strict deadlines.

12. Must have the ability to successfully work with a variety of different clients and personalities in the scope of the workday.

13. Must be willing and interested in learning about the public relations business.

14. Must have a professional understanding of, and abide by, client and company confidentiality.

15. Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by first day of work; the company will consider accommodations for disability and religious-based reasons.

16. Must be bondable, possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation and automobile insurance.

17. Must present a professional appearance and demeanor as an associate of L&F.
