Kennedy Communications, a full-service advertising agency in Madison, WI that provides integrated advertising and interactive campaigns for local, regional, national, and international clients, is seeking a Media Buyer.

Qualified candidates will be organized, detail-oriented and have excellent communication skills in order to successfully negotiate and coordinate media planning and buying. In addition to assisting the media director, the Media Buyer will work closely with account executives, creative team, and accounting department to ensure that from start to finish all aspects of media plans are executed.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares, places and maintains media plans based on briefings from account executives and team strategy meetings
  • Negotiates and purchases television, OOH, radio, print, and streaming audio/video media buys
  • Utilize buying software (Strata, Media Tools) to create and manage media plans
  • Books media space and issues insertion orders, insertion cancellations and media change requests
  • Assists in media planning functions, as required by media team lead, i.e. coordinating with media vendors, preparing campaign insights for client meetings or internal strategy discussions
  • Provides thoughtful recommendations and insight on how to achieve clients’ goal on a given platform with the budget available
  • Coordinates with account executives to ensure publication creative deadlines are met
  • Maintains contact with media advertising representatives
  • Generates and/or maintains media reference files
  • Provides research for media planning
  • Compiles and interprets media data and statistics
  • Approves media invoices and settles billing discrepancies with publications as needed
  • Reviews tear sheets to determine if publications have run correct size, position, color, etc. as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2 - 5 years media experience (agency or station)
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment while meeting multiple deadlines
  • Exemplary math skills
  • Strong curiosity in learning new media and educating staff and clients
