OVERVIEW:

The Media Director oversees the media functions of the agency—from proposals to the reconciliation of the buys. They will provide the digital and traditional media team guidance in developing strategies, plans, outside vendor relationships, and media operations. They will manage and supervise the media staff (reviews, weekly team meetings, workload allocation, hiring, and other staffing decisions). They will work with cross-functional teams to plan, execute, build, and present media campaigns to existing clients and new business prospects. On a regular basis, they will analyze, optimize, and provide recommendations on paid media initiatives and supervise other media personnel in these tasks.

This position will work very closely with the KW2 Controller to ensure financial reporting and tracking of media buys are accurate. This position will also assist in creating, building, and maintaining working partnerships with vendors and potential new vendors and recommend media.

This position can work remotely, though is welcome to work at KW2’s office in Madison.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Media Department Leadership

  • Provide leadership, management, and guidance to the media staff. Act as a leader within the agency and grow department personnel and agency capabilities.
  • Stay abreast of emerging media tools, best practices, collaboration and ideas that drive agency recommendations, and transfer that knowledge to the media team and other agency staff. Identify staffing needs and play an active role in the hiring of media team members.
  • Holds self and others accountable for measurable high-quality, timely, and cost-effective results.
  • Determines objectives, sets priorities and delegates work to the media team.
  • Identifies and analyzes problems, weighs relevance and accuracy of information, generates and evaluates alternative solutions, makes recommendations for department improvements.

Media Strategy and Planning

  • Establish media strategy in collaboration with KW2 Account services. You will provide strong data to back up strategies, and tie recommendations to client goals and objectives.
  • Plans strategically with traditional and digital media teams to ensure offline and online tactics complement each other and maximize results for the client.
  • Work with the team to provide the best measurement plans and metrics for actionable recommendations.
  • Create and present media recommendations to Account Service and directly to clients.
  • Work with other KW2 teams in concepting on campaigns that involve media components.

New Business Responsibilities

  • Provide content as needed for RFPs that have a media component.
  • Present topline recommendations and competencies to new business prospects.
  • Represent KW2 Media Department in a positive and professional way when attending new business meetings, client functions or professional development events.
  • Ability to understand key market drivers and create and seize business opportunities, expand into new markets, and launch innovative media products and services

Media Buying and Reconciliation

  • Works closely with the Controller to manage the budget reconciliation process, which includes overseeing media AR/AP in a timely and efficient way. Media Director will also help resolve campaign issues and negotiate makegoods where appropriate.
  • Develop and review department profitability goals and manage team billability and agency budget management.
  • Support in proactive communications with vendor partners. Issue RFPs to and negotiate with media vendors as needed
  • Create and deliver buy recommendations internally and to clients
  • Review tracking of campaigns to ensure that metrics can be easily tracked through analytics platforms and are accurate
  • Review all media billing to clients

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7-10 years in media planning and buying.
  • Knowledge of both traditional and digital channels. Ability to guide strategy and manage the team in plan execution.
  • Knowledge of media buying platforms. i.e. third party ad-servers
  • Experience working with a DSP
  • Experience working with ad servers
  • Experience with multiple intelligence gathering tools to help guide media planning
  • Supervisory and mentoring responsibilities for a team of 4-6 media staff
  • Presentation of plans and reports to clients and mentoring junior staff in presenting
  • A clear understanding of media process in the reconciliation of buys
  • Understanding of industry trends, knowledge of data tools, product and service development
  • Agency experience preferred
