The United Community Center, a non-profit community based organization is looking for a Media Relations and Events Coordinator to lead the agency media relations efforts, prepare and distributed press materials and to manage large scale agency events from fundraisers to Latino Arts concerts and exhibits.

The candidate we seek will work closely with the Marketing Director to develop media and outreach plans for the various agency programs and activities. This will include direct follow-up with the media, coordinating press interview with internal staff, and providing responses to media inquiries. 

The candidate we seek will work closely with the Marketing Director and other members of the Marketing Team to manage ALL logistics, planning, and on-site coordination of all events. The Marketing Projects and Events coordinator will need to communicate and coordinate with both internal and external customers to ensure smooth and successful events that help portray a positive image to all visitors, sponsors and community members.

Additionally, this person will be a critical member of the marketing team assisting with a variety marketing projects, cultural arts activities and workshops, and other communications assignments including social media.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or Marketing, along with at least 3-5 years of experience in public relations and event planning required. 
  • Excellent writing skills are a must, along with superior interpersonal communication and project management skills. 
  • A demonstrated ability to solve problems, seek out solutions, and be resourceful to get the work done is very important. 
  • We are seeking a proactive and self-motivated personality who can work well independently and in a team; Bilingual in Spanish desired.

The candidate we seek will work closely with the Marketing Director to develop media outreach plans for the various agency programs and activities and plan and execute all aspects of special events for UCC and Latino Arts.

Duties:

  • Manage all communication with local and national media, including drafting and distributing press releases, conducting consistent follow-up, and maintaining positives relationships
  • Supervise and oversee all media visits and track any agency coverage
  • Maintain all media lists, insuring accurate, up-to-date information
  • Assist with other agency writing needs including newsletter articles, success stories and grant applications
  • Coordinate and execute major agency events including, but not limited to, fundraising events, receptions, grand openings, dedications and press conferences
  • Develop timelines, task lists and action items for all events and delegate responsibilities to staff members and volunteers
  • Coordinate contracts with rental agencies, event vendors and agency restaurant to satisfy event needs
  • Organize and implement programming and logistics for all Latino Arts, Inc. performances, exhibit openings and workshops
  • Coordinate school attendance to Latino Arts’ programs, managing contracts and payments
  • Manage all logistics for Latino Arts performances, coordinating lodging, transportation, meals and stipends
