As a community resource for thousands of families, Minnesota Children’s Museum is dedicated to providing children with a fun, hands-on and stimulating environment to explore and discover.

Our lively sales team seeks an energetic individual to assist in all areas of the Membership and Events Department. The intern will be responsible for aiding the Membership and Sales Manager in providing a high level of service to the members and customers of the museum. Responsibilities may include helping with onsite events and offsite promotional opportunities, and tracking overall experience quality through survey work, including survey creation, aiding in data collection and reporting results.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The exact duties and projects will be determined by mutual agreement of the intern and museum staff. All duties will be carried out with the direction and supervision of the Membership and Sales department.

  • Track member and customer experience trends through the sending of surveys to assess satisfaction of museum visits, member nights, Private Play Times, camps, and group visits.
  • Offer support at member and events, as well as promotional event opportunities.
  • Assist with private play time, camp, and group visit coordination.
  • Assist with museum annual Gala.
  • Various other duties as assigned.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Formal education in related field such as marketing, communication, business. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Excel. 
  • Ability to organize time and work independently, follow directions and complete tasks in an effective manner. 
  • Skill in coordinating tasks and projects. 
  • Ability to work well with people.
  • Excellent analytical thinking skills. 
  • Previous knowledge of Survey Monkey and Raiser’s Edge helpful. 
  • Self-starter, able to take initiative.

TRAINING PROVIDED:

  • Intern orientation 
  • Museum background and philosophy 
  • Survey Monkey, Raiser’s Edge, Robly and Microsoft Office Suite as needed 
  • Reporting/final document process and creation 
  • Access to supplemental staff trainings: The Ways of Play, Wakanheza

PAY: $15.00 per hour plus free parking or bus pass

SCHEDULE: Requires 120 on-site hours during the internship session (10-12 hours per week, January – May 2024). Some weekend hours required. Availability on March 25, April 1 & May 3 a plus, as we have events that require additional assistance.
