This position is looking for a motivated, outgoing individual responsible for recruiting, researching, implementing, tracking and measuring campaigns to recruit, retain and engage WICPA members and prospective members at all levels by:

  1. Cultivating relationships with prospective members including high school and college students, educators and new CPAs through campaigns, presentations, panels, programs and events to create awareness of the CPA profession and promote membership;
  2. Coordinates volunteers for speaking programs;
  3. Providing a high level of service to current and prospective members and assisting with member service functions including new member phone calls, new member packets, implementing onboarding program, membership renewal and special event phone calls and email, attending member events as assigned;
  4. Assisting with maintaining membership records and ensuring accurate input of member data as directed.
  5. Also responsible for special projects as assigned. Must be able to work additional time with travel (60%) and overnights around the State.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops goals and action plans for membership recruitment, retention and engagement of students and educators. Implements approved plans.
  • Researches, creates and updates presentation content to continuously be relevant and gives presentations to prospective student members and companies in order to promote membership.
  • Liaison to high school and college educator committees.
  • Attends college and high school career fairs and networking events. Recruits member volunteers.
  • Meets with appropriate staff for brainstorming, development and implementation for marketing and design plans for content, development and updating of membership and marketing materials for students, educators, accounting and business professional audiences including brochures, letters, flyers, fact sheets, surveys, member update form and others.
  • Executes new member on-boarding process, including: sending weekly welcome emails; new member packets are up to date and mailed weekly with certificates; making weekly personal phone calls to welcome new members and documenting responses; monthly new member orientations; sending new member survey bi-annually. Also attends events recognizing new members.
  • Identifies and reaches out to prospects stating an interest in membership.
  • Attends, sets up, and staffs membership booth at colleges, high schools, expos and any other venues as assigned to cultivate relationships that create awareness, promote membership, and the association’s image.
  • Coordinates speakers, panels and/or volunteers for programs such as High School Educators Symposiums, CPA Speaking Program, Wisconsin Educators of Business and Information Technology Conference Session, Reading Makes Cents, Students & Leaders Network, DECA, FBLA, Junior Achievement and other programs as appropriate or as assigned. Attends events and/or exhibits, as appropriate. Tracks results and volunteers.
  • Develops content for the Students and Educator e-news and disseminates timely to appropriate audiences. Ensures content is proofed; links are active and directed to the appropriate source; content is concise.
  • Assists with topics and/or writes articles for WICPA publications and website.
  • Regularly researches, records and analyzes metrics, and utilizes member demographics, surveys, retention data and reports, etc. to identify areas for enhancing member service and engagement. Reports findings and makes recommendations. Implements approved projects.
  • Regularly reviews, recommends and assesses recruitment, retention and student initiative programs and explores new, creative methods and programs to communicate and market to current, new and prospective members.
  • Regularly reaches out to other state societies or networks, reads trade publications, and attends programs to identify successful practices. Stays current on latest trends.
  • Recommends budgets for programs, reviews event bills for accuracy, codes and submits for payment.
  • Backs up phone lines.
  • Creates monthly, quarterly and annual reports to measure progress toward achieving membership recruitment, retention and engagement goals for position.

Requirements:

  • Must possess Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Business, Marketing or Communications and three (3) years previous experience in business, communications, marketing, sales, or association membership.
  • Knowlege or interest in accounting preferred.
  • Must exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills including writing and editing materials, recording and analyzing metrics and giving presentations to a variety of audiences.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills and ability to handle member inquiries in a professional manner.
  • Must possess a high level of organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Required computer skills include intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Knowledge and skills in database functionalities or customer relationship management systems and demonstrated ability to produce queries and reports to yield desired results preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, have a reliable source of transportation and be able to travel evenings and weekends as scheduled.
  • Must be able to work additional time as required with overnights and travel.
