The Multicultural Marketing Manager will lead member engagement strategy and multicultural marketing material development for the Minnesota UnitedHealthcare Community Plan, a new plan serving Minnesota’s most vulnerable population. The right candidate will have an established track record of leading multicultural marketing efforts within an agency or corporate organization.

The role will be focused on building and implementing marketing and member communication plans to effectively reach and relate to targeted cultures and ethnicities. As a result, the candidate will need to have deep knowledge and experience in multicultural marketing disciplines as well as the ability to identify the need for and application of audience research and insight development. These efforts should leverage best practices but also challenge conventional multicultural marketing approaches by seeking out opportunities to connect on common ground and partnerships with community-based organizations that serve diverse Medicaid populations. The candidate must have strong leadership and communication skills with a sense of urgency for results and comfort working in fast-paced environments.

The Multicultural Marketing Manager is a valuable part of the leadership team with a unique opportunity to build a new health plan from the ground up, reimagine with proactive efforts to develop strategies and materials to support business and member engagement goals and exceed State requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establish opportunity, strategy, objectives for multicultural marketing efforts to support health plan goals and member needs 
  • Create and build marketing tactics in collaboration with the Minnesota health plan team 
  • Support local events and promotion to meet members where they are in the community 
  • Develop, maintain and update multicultural insights and applications with annual refreshes while providing ongoing timely and topical refreshed insights to take quick and decisive action throughout the year 
  • Provide thought leadership within and on behalf of UnitedHealthcare for multicultural audience research, insights and application across disciplines and industries 
  • Leverage industry best practices while using data and insights to challenge conventional thinking and provide new and innovative approaches to reaching diverse audiences 
  • In addition to partnering with the Health Plan’s Health Equity Director, collaborate with enterprise teams that focus on health equity

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, marketing research, business administration or related field or equivalent experience 
  • 3+ years of multicultural marketing experience in an agency or corporate environment 
  • Experience in identifying, developing and executing marketing research plans independently or in collaboration with vendors 
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in MS Office 
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Adobe PDF (editing and mark up) 
  • Ability to travel up to 25% percentage

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare or other highly regulated industries 
  • Medicaid experience 
  • Experience working with and building relationships with cross-functional leaders 
  • Analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills 
  • Communication and experience with challenging conversations to drive change
