The Department of Continuing Education at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater seeks a Multimedia Designer (CM018). This will be a fixed-term annual appointment and reappointment for subsequent terms is dependent upon needs of the position, university funding, and external forces. Starting salary will be $37,300 and may be increased based on qualifications.

Under the supervision of the director of Continuing Education Services, this position manages design work for The School of Graduate Studies and Continuing Education Services’ clients and stakeholders. The position manages advertising strategies’ creative concepts. The position also contributes to promoting social media accounts. The position also directs two graphic design student employees.

A. Graphics design

  • Conceptualizes, plans, and executes digital and/or print design to support Camps and Conferences 
  • Manages, organizes, and monitors art production projects adhering to established timelines and expectations 
  • Manages print production including engaging with on-campus and off-campus printing services.
  • Composes, processes, and edits photographs in various mediums utilizing specialized equipment and expertise 
  • Manages project workflow and timing, maintains files, and follows established work unit processes 
  • Contributes to consistent application of UW-Whitewater branding standards across all levels of the institution. 
  • Applies creative expertise within established brand and style guidelines 
  • Collaborates with other unit members and program directors to develop new creative content 

B. Advertising and marketing

  • Manage, edit, and organize advertisements prior to publication. 
  • Collaborate with Continuing Education staff and program directors to update marketing strategies to ensure effectiveness and cost-effectiveness
  • Contacts potential and past advertisers to secure ad commitments in both print and online space 
  • Manages and updates advertisement records as needed 
  • Generates and disperses advertising invoices 
  • Contributes to promoting the Camps and Conferences social media account. 
  • Develops and facilitates trainings for staff and customers regarding marketing technology options and best practices 

C. Supervision of student workers

  • Direct departmental students assigned to develop or update camps/conference/clinics graphics materials. 
  • Manage schedules, delegate jobs, and proof/edit their work. 
  • Direct and evaluate student performance 
  • Mentor students to improve quality of work.

D. Contribute to other responsibilities assigned by supervisor

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree
  • Two years’ experience in a graphic design role
  • Demonstrated proficiency in graphic design and print media creation 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or related field 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Experience in developing successful marketing programs
  • Knowledge of adobe suite 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet all deadlines 
  • Strong communications skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience in photography and use of DSLR camera.
  • Ability to manage and direct students and staff 
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills 
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
