As the marketing and communications lead for the School of Freshwater Sciences, this position performs a wide array of duties. The incumbent will create and implement a proactive marketing and communications strategy to advance the brand, support recruitment and grow enrollment at UWM’s School of Freshwater Sciences program. Strategic planning, project management, writing, web updates, community outreach and collaboration with faculty members, college administrators and peers in integrated marketing are an essential part of this position.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field.
  • Progressively responsible experience/growth in marketing, communications, public relations and/or journalism.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, exercise sound judgment and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and successfully execute projects that involve multiple team members and stakeholders (i.e., organizing work, communicating with peers, driving deadlines, etc.) 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic marketing plans to achieve organizational goals. 
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Demonstrated ability to create and manage budgets. 
  • Demonstrated excellence in writing. 
  • Experience in community outreach and/or building strategic relationships.
  • Experience working with Wordpress or a similar content management system to update websites. 
  • Experience working with HTML email systems (such as Emma, Constant Contact, etc.).
