At Twin Cities PBS (TPT), we have a mission: to enrich lives and strengthen communities through the power of public media. TPT has an immediate opening for an Online Editor - Public Affairs that is core to our mission. This position is responsible for editing and technically evaluating broadcast quality video materials.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Utilize various suites of editing equipment to combine video, audio and graphics into finished programs. 
  • Apply technical expertise to aesthetic and editorial decisions made during the online process to improve the quality of the product. 
  • Complete other editing assignments as assigned by the manager, including editing audio and video to tell the story conceived by the producer. 
  • Manage the media to ensure a smooth flow of the material through all steps of the post production process including archiving. 
  • Collaborate with the producing staff to modify the material until it meets the specified requirements 
  • Understand the technical systems to modify settings, correct userā€level problems, and suggest innovative solutions to technical problems 
  • Ensure edited programs meet client needs and TPT’s and PBS’s high technical standards. 
  • Create and enhance audio to support the video of TPT production to assure that completed audio is correctly re-incorporated into finished programs and meets project needs and TPT’s technical standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4+ years of professional editing experience 
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite preferred 
  • Ability to create and enhance audio to support video of TPT productions and meet high technical standards 
  • Ability to work some evening shifts 
  • Competency with Office 365, Apple and PC computers 
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills 
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills 
  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Highly motivated and ability to work independently
