The Outreach & Events Intern will assist with the planning, logistics and implementation of the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce’s programs and events, as well as presenting the organization and organizing presences at Pride festivities and other events around the state during the summer.
The Outreach & Events Intern, working closely with the President & CEO and other staff, will assist with planning at every stage of the process; from conception to completion. This is a tremendous opportunity for students seeking experience in nonprofit management, marketing and communications, business, event planning, or experience working in a professional LGBT organization.
The Intern will be engaged in planning of several signature events in the summer, including the Pride Business Showcase, the Business Leaders Breakfast and Out in the Kitchen, as well as our regular networking events.
The Intern will also be responsible for organizing and representing the LGBT Chamber at various Pride festivities in Wisconsin, including at PrideFest in Milwaukee. Reliable transportation is required. This is an unpaid internship; however, interns are eligible to receive college credit.
This position is part-time, between 10-15 hours a week (including weekends). The intern schedule is flexible; however consistency and dependability are necessary to the successful completion of this internship. This position requires the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The intern will have significant interaction with the public and may at times be asked to work cooperatively with other staff. Training and support will be offered and available to the intern throughout the duration of the internship.
