At this time, the Museum is seeking a Paid Media Manager to collaborate as a member of the marketing department to amplify exhibitions, programs, events, and institutional stories through paid media placements. This position will work closely with the Director of Sales and Marketing and the Content Marketing Manager, in addition to the design, digital experience, and finance teams.

To be successful as the Paid Media Manager at the Milwaukee Art Museum, the candidate should have a passion for the arts and bring enthusiasm for amplifying messages that further our mission and attract visitors. An effective Paid Media Manager is an active self-starter who enjoys managing details while staying in touch with larger goals of the institution. The Paid Media Manager understands the steps necessary to meet campaign goals and is able to clearly outline them to ensure smooth collaboration across teams. 

Qualifications:

  • This position requires a completed bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience in marketing with a focus on paid media. Experience with museum, B2C, or destination marketing is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of current marketing concepts, strategy, and best practices for reaching diverse audiences across platforms, which should include a demonstrated understanding of paid digital media placements, including social media, display, and PPC, and a general understanding of placing print, out-of-home, and radio ads 
  • Outstanding ability to manage a large number of details and deadlines. Experience with Basecamp is a plus. 
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Google Analytics 
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize projects and deadlines, with the flexibility to adapt quickly and pivot based on immediate needs 
  • Must have availability to work occasional nights and weekends based on event/exhibition schedule 
  • Assist Director of Sales and Marketing with day-to-day administrative tasks

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely within the marketing department and with colleagues across the institution to amplify exhibitions, programs, events, and institutional stories through paid media placements
  • Work closely with the Director of Sales and Marketing to identify campaign goals and propose a paid media strategy to complement owned and earned marketing initiatives in order to meet those goals 
  • Plan and oversee all marketing placements, developing an annual media plan and securing contracts 
  • Maintain close relationships with paid media partners to understand their offerings and their audiences 
  • Collaborate with Content Marketing Manager and the design team to create high-quality ad collateral 
  • Support Content Marketing Manager with online event amplification by uploading event descriptions to Facebook and community calendar listings 
  • Project manage the ad creation process, traffic ad collateral to appropriate vendors, monitor ad deadlines, and process payments to each vendor 
  • Monitor the paid media budget and work closely with finance to process invoices for ad vendors 
  • Monitor and report on ad performance 
  • Represent the marketing department in the Museum’s Project Manager group
